I have been working on some simple but delicious dinner plans to make my life easier.

Thanks Lessimore! You just made my day! There will be noodles coming to my house soon :)

You just crack the egg in the noodle soup while you boil the noodle, when the noodle is done, the egg will be cooked too. Now there are two types eggs in the noodle soup, one that we call "Flying Egg", which you whip the egg first then slowly stir it in the soup, so that the egg are floating pieces in the soup, kind of like the egg in the "Egg Drop Soup". The other type is that you just crack the egg, and drop it in the soup, do not stir it until the egg is cooked, so that you can get a whole egg in the soup.

Shin Ramyun is also one of my favorites. You can pretty much find it in every Asian grocery store. I always have some stocked up. Try to drop an egg in the noodlesoup when you cook it next time, it always makes it better. Whenever I am overwhelmed with American food, I always make myself a nice bowl of Ramen noodle soup. There is this most famous brand in China called "Kang Shi Fu", that's my all time favorite, but it's hard to find here.

We already did the number 1) this year. So my New Year resolution for next year is having a baby, just to keep it simple :)

Best of luck to you!

That's a great New Year resolution. That was actually my secrete New Year resolution. But since I am having a baby soon, I dare not to make it official. Maybe the year after the next. Good luck, let's know how it goes. You can be my inspiration next year.

After listening to Tom Wait's interview on NPR's Fresh Air, I bought the album "Bad as me" today. You are right, it's full of great songs. "Kiss me" is also a very good song. Trying to create the "pops and clicks" sound from old records, he simply put a microphone next to a barbecued chicken on a grill, and it sounds perfect.

My brother recently gave me some iTune gift cards with quite a bit of money. That allows me to collect a lot of Tom Wait's albums.

It doesn't look like plastic, it looks very reflective, almost like a mirror. It has to be a perfect balance of rigidity and flexibility. No more flat tires!

It's a great idea if it's not too expensive. That way, the pool wouldn't look ugly with a cover on it in winter.

Bone Machine is actually my favorite album so far. I do really like this new album Bad As Me. I will have to listen to it more times to decide which one I like more.

One day I was having Tom Waits fever, I bought multiple of his albums and listened to him all day long, and I got really sick of him by the end of the night. I took a break from him for awhile, recently the fever has slowly come back again.

I have Swordfishtrombones, it is a great album indeed. I will definitely check out Heartattack.

Here is the lyrics:

I'm the last leaf on the tree

The autumn took the rest

But they won't take me

I'm the last leaf on the tree

When the autumn wind blows

They're already gone

They flutter to the ground

Cause they can't hang on

There's nothing in the world

That I ain't seen

I greet all the new ones that are coming in green

I'm the last leaf on the tree

The autumn took the rest but they wont take me

I'm the last leaf on the tree

They say I got staying power

Here on the tree

But I've been here since Eisenhower

And I've out lived even he

I'm the last leaf on the tree

The autumn took the rest but they won't take me

I'm the last leaf on the tree

I fight off the snow

I fight off the hail

Nothing makes me go

I'm like some vestigial tail

I'll be here through eternity

If you want to know how long

If they cut down this tree

I'll show up in a song

I'm the last leaf on the tree

The autumn took the rest but they won't take me

I'm the last leaf on the tree

I'm the last leaf on the tree

I'm the last leaf on the tree

Ha ha, this is better than a cat video, a cheesy song, and a X-mas picture. I can also accept "a click", there it is shared.

Whoa! That's so crazy! I feel like Rabbit Island is one of those last pieces of virgin wilderness. It's very small and not many people know about it. Now it belongs to a young doctor who bought it two years ago, but people are still welcome to go on it, especially artists. The music fits the atmosphere of the environment perfectly.

I totally agree with you. I personally don't get this kind of art. Also, what about the lives in the river? I would think they might be affected somehow without sun. $2.5 million for this? What's the point?
gq  ·  4771 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: The Academic Origins of China's One Child Policy
During Mao's era, he believed national power equals to human power, thus population exploded in China. After the turmoils China had gone through during cultural revolution and great famine, Chinese government started this one-Child policy to control population and economy.

Nowadays, Chinese culture has changed due to this policy. Because the children born to this policy are the center of the families, this new generation is often referred to as "Little Emperor"---- the spoiled generation. It really makes me wonder if this spoiled generation will be able to carry the social responsibilities when their parents get old.

Now, Chinese government is slowly loosening up the policy. Under the certain condition, a couple can have two kids, for example, if both of the couple are single child in their family. The fine for disobeying "One-Child" policy is dazzling, depending in the area, in most of the urban area, it's 3 times of the annual household income.

The typical mongolian singing style is throat singing. I didn't know it's also called overtone singing or Kargyraa. Cool stuff.
