I've never personally been a fan of Christo and Jeanne-Claude, but I wouldn't say I was against them either. This project I think crosses the line. Their former projects usually involved city-scapes or the like, which is kind of cool because it transforms the every day commute of some people into a living art installation.
This current project is just obtrusive, and detracts from, instead of adds to, the beauty of the canyon. When you think of other nature installations (Spiral Jetty, for example), you don't usually think of environment impact studies, because usually the artist wants to make some kind of harmony with the land. This looks intentionally disharmonious, and I think its a shame that its being indulged.
