I remember when the internet used to be about sites finding sites finding new things and generally having a peaceful experience
Cyberwars however, are the result of another trend. That trend is the increased dependence on machines, in particular computers. When taking into account the cost and the strategic advantage of cyberweapons as opposed to conventional weapons. it is a logical step. This all is very unfortunate since it kind of spoils the internet for normal people, but also needed. The internet is so big and important that we need to use it, also for political issues.
I am very tired of being constantly treated as a consumer.
I don't see a future for logging in with your real identity. It's not cost effective and people will demonstrate even harder than with SOPA, ACTA and PIPA when forced to do that. The beauty of the internet is the possibility to connect with everyone with an connection, anonymously. Take that away and a lot of things will just stop. Reddit, 4chan, possibly Hubski and a lot of other sites. As for the data logging itself, install ad-blockers, ghostery and noscript for paranoid mode firefox :P
