Saluton!

I am currently learning Lojban, Esperanto, and Toki Pona.

I noticed you wanted to join/start a linguistic cult. Common Honey is exactly what you desire.

shanoxilt  ·  3259 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: A Geeky Problem: Queer Terminology for a Constructed Language

"I" "am (to be present tense)" "female" "changed (to change past tense)" "male" for trans for example (I really have no idea if this is how lojban works, I'm guessing)

Unfortunately, gender dysphoria and the transgender experience are way more complicated than that. It isn't that they are becoming a woman or a man; it is that they already are one but are taking the necessary steps to match their minds and their bodies.

Read Julia Serano's "Whipping Girl: A Transsexual Woman on Sexism and the Scapegoating of Femininity" and Antonio Demasio's "The Feeling of What Happens: Body and Emotion in the Making of Consciousness" for an introduction to the basic ideas involved.

And if that turns out to be a really long word then just shorten it like Esperanto's Mojosa (MOderna-Juna-Stilo, or Modern Young Style).

This does not work for Lojban due to its word-formation rules. Lojban requires what is called "self-segregating morphology", so any words that violate a certain pattern will wreak havoc on the rest of the grammar.

I don't really see how LGBT terms would be useful often however, I mean, if you go to a party and meet someone you would say "Hey I'm CardboardLamp", instead of "Hey I'm CardboardLamp, I'm a color of race, sexual orientation, age, etc etc etc", unless you're at an event specially held for LGBT members.

Most Lojbanic expression happens through text in the form of chatrooms and there are a lot of bisexual people in Lojbanistan, so it is only natural to include them.

And could you tell me what you mean by "retains mostly cis and heterosexual concepts despite known speakers"?

I am discussing issues of cisnormativity and cisgender privilege.

And is it not about cultural neutrality? It seems like you want it to be diverse,

You can't be culturally neutral without diversity.

I don't speak Toki Pona, but I am aware of it.

shanoxilt  ·  3384 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: How do you feel about Forum Role-Playing Games?

It is a mystery-based game. Piece together the clues to solve it.

Are we still playing? Please don't let it die before it begins.

shanoxilt  ·  3385 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Hubnomic 3 and what a shortlived experiment this was

As I've said in the past, Nomic is one of those games that is extremely difficult to keep active. It requires invested and interested players, and a system to keep the momentum going.

shanoxilt  ·  3388 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Hubnomic 2: Ruleset WEIRD-QUORUM - Rules on rules

2.3 ratification of ruleset propositions shall occur 96 hours after the post of the next ruleset under the following conditions:

I really insist that you make ratification occur at a maximum of 24 hours.

shanoxilt  ·  3387 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Hubnomic 2: Ruleset WEIRD-QUORUM - Rules on rules

Ratify PHILOSOPHICAL-SURFACE.

shanoxilt  ·  3389 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Hubnomic 1: Ruleset CREATIVE-KEYCHAIN - Rules on beginning

This is a common feature of this game. Unless you provide incentives to continue playing it, Nomic is quickly abandoned. Without a short time limit on ratification, people simply forget about it.

shanoxilt  ·  3389 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Hubnomic 1: Ruleset CREATIVE-KEYCHAIN - Rules on beginning

I would shorten it to 24 hours maximum (or 6 hours minimum).

shanoxilt  ·  3391 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Ruleset Proposition: Dealing with the Proposition and Ratification of Rules

1.1 A rule or ruleset can only become ratified if proposed as a post under the #hubnomic tag.

1.2 A rule or ruleset can not become ratified if proposed as a comment on a post under the #hubnomic tag.

I vote against these. It will overwhelm Hubski with #Hubnomic posts.

1.7 A vote does not count if made as a reply to a comment in the "Rule/set Proposition" post.

I vote against this. Replying to the proposition is the best way to keep votes organized.

shanoxilt  ·  3391 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Hubnomic 1: Ruleset CREATIVE-KEYCHAIN - Rules on beginning

Speaking of language, we should take this proposal to its logical extreme.

shanoxilt  ·  3391 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Hubnomic 1: Ruleset CREATIVE-KEYCHAIN - Rules on beginning

2.3 Rules proposed as sets must be approved in their entirety, votes may not be cast on a subset of the proposed set.

2.4 Rulesets must be modified as sets, including transmutation, amendment, and repeal.

I vote against these two rules.

shanoxilt  ·  3391 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Hubnomic 1: Ruleset CREATIVE-KEYCHAIN - Rules on beginning

I propose a new rule!

Proposition 1: In order to fully enjoy the expressive potential of Nomic, our rules shall affect a game state hereby known as "the World".

shanoxilt  ·  3391 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Hubnomic 1: Ruleset CREATIVE-KEYCHAIN - Rules on beginning

I second this ruling.

shanoxilt  ·  3391 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Hubnomic 1: Ruleset CREATIVE-KEYCHAIN - Rules on beginning

I second this motion.

shanoxilt  ·  3391 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Anyone up for a game of Nomic? (Or, Introducing HubNomic)

One of the best things about Nomic is almost a sort of "meta-game". If one can properly craft the rules set, not only can you enjoy Parliamentary shenanigans, you can create entire sub-games complete with #worldbuilding .

shanoxilt  ·  3393 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: 135th Weekly "Share Some Music You've Been Into Lately" Thread

Honestly, I only like vaporwave's ability to address anti-capitalist and nostalgia-conflicted themes. The music itself tends to be underwhelming.

I prefer oceangrunge.

Be sure to check this. I'll be in the I.R.C. tomorrow.

How many people other than you and I are even interested?

Also, I hate the term "conlang". It sounds too much like Newspeak jargon. I prefer "glossopoeia", "invented languages", or "intentional languages".

Meet me on I.R.C.

Hi!

I am a moderator of a lot of invented language subreddits. Ask me whatever you'd like.

shanoxilt  ·  3410 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Nomic

Are you proposing that we play a session of Nomic? I love this game but it always flounders.

shanoxilt  ·  3410 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Nomic

Can we use the Nomic rules set to make a worldbuilding "sub-game"? I'm suggesting a roleplaying game where we use the rules of Nomic to determine the game mechanics, physics, and setting.
