There's nothing contradictory in supporting free speech and denouncing racism. Everyone has the right to hate whoever they please and to voice that hate as publicly as they like. This does not mean they are immune to ridicule or shaming.

There's a pretty good documentary called Dangerous Knowledge that touches on Godel's, Cantor's, and Turing's (and Boltzmann, but who cares about physics?) descent into madness. It's not very technical so you non-math people can also enjoy it.

it's to present-reddit what 2008-reddit was to 2008-digg

I'm not sure it was ever a particularly nice place to begin with. Eternal september and all that jazz.

I didn't see much of a defense other than 'it gives you confidence'.

Doesn't that mean that any kind of interaction will be trivial?

His story about the forger and the drop in value of a forgery reminded me of F for Fake (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0072962/), Welles' last movie. It's entirely about this. The forgery thing, I mean. It's also an excellent movie. You guys should watch it.

I wasn't in before www, though.
I uploaded the studio version here because I find the thought of people only listening to the live version unacceptable.
The Bad Plus' cover of Wilco's Radio Cure. Runner-ups: their cover of Iron Man, their cover of Lithium.
I'm very glad you like it. It's one of my favorite songs of all time.

Hipster, teenagers riding the bandwagon, pretty much anyone who wants to pretend their shaky cellphone pictures are 'artistic'.

My entire timeline on twitter was sincerely outraged at the fact that their hipster-exclusive service will become popular. I hate that place.

Ads are hardly the point... think about this like google buying youtube. Instagram has expanded horribly fast since its birth.

>A sign that social networks are a bubble soon to pop?

I wouldn't bet on it.

>"You have problems which are unexceptional. You can't be stressed; my problems are worse."

Yes, this annoys me. The idea that it is impossible to suffer if you're not the one who is suffering the most is just ridiculous. The idea of 'first world problems', or that you shouldn't mind something just because some people have it worse is absurd.

Wikipedia says they're both right, but styluses gets more hits on google.

When the time comes for the Pad/Laptop Singularity I'm sure we'll have figured out how to solve the keyboard issue. And wouldn't a stylus work for photoshop as well? Styluses rule.
