When I was a kid, Radio Shack was the place I went to buy resistors and capacitors and transistors to make the things I made with them. It was awesome. The guys working in the place knew their shit, and I would stand around chinning with them for hours. Today, you could do the same thing with computer hardware, but RS just totally screwed the pooch.
Game over. The Culture of Fear has won. If your children play outside they will catch Ebola.
Why didn't you just get an FAC and gun to defend yourself? Even if he can't get his gun, he can get a gun from somewhere. That way, you would have had some way of defending yourself. Wouldn't you rather be empowered than a victim?
I, for one, would like to know my "mute quotient," as feedback such as that might help me to modify my posting style. I will convince no-one of my better point of view if my eloquence goes unheard.
Bleh. I'm tired of all the misandry this event inspired. Let's try looking at the real problem, which is mental health. EDIT: And if anyone says "no, the problem is GUNS," I'm gonna shoot you.
I know nothing about this, or if it is still alive: http://thehackernews.com/2012/03/anonymous-os-01-anonymous-hackers.html
Honestly, I have no idea how I ended up on this list. I hope this doesn't mean I have to be nice to people now. I mean, yeah, it's good to have opinions and discuss them coherently and cite facts and stuff. But at the end of the day, I'm right and everyone else can go pound sand. As long as everyone keeps that in mind, we'll get along fine.
Maybe not what you're looking for, but what about one of the new privacy OS's designed to work with the Tor network?
Meh, he's probably just trying to get laid with some SJW. I honestly don't see where he's been sexist.
I think that's part of the point.
I like the way this guy thinks.
Because the difference is purely cosmetic. Nobody is arguing for unrestrained possession of automatic weapons -- aka "machine guns." And the difference between your basic hunting rifle and what people refer to as "assault rifles" is simply a difference in stock, sight and magazine. Imma gonna hold my nose and, as much as I hate to, link to Fox News. Because even a broken clock is right sometimes, and this is one of Fox's moments: http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013/01/16/gun-debate-what-makes-gun-assault-rifle/
Sensible legislation already exists. Before anyone in the U.S. can purchase any firearm, in any state, they must undergo a full background check. You cannot buy a firearm if you: Have been convicted in any court of a crime punishable by imprisonment for a term exceeding one year;
When it comes to handguns, almost every state has requirements for carrying pistols, which often include requirements for training, supervised range time, and, yes, more background checks. When people start wringing their hands about needing more legislation to keep guns out of the hands of the wrong people, I immediately know that they're just spouting bullshit and don't have a clue what they are talking about. We already have sensible legislation. What we don't fucking have is adequate care for our mentally ill. We also don't have a society that has any resemblance of economic parity, and one that demonizes 50% of its population for being the wrong gender. Gun control is just a shibboleth. The real key to dealing with gun violence is not the guns, but the underlying mechanisms leading to their misuse.
I repeat: This is a national requirement, not state. Most states impose their own, additional conditions; in my case, simply to purchase ammunition for hunting, I had to pass a secondary background check and pass two courses, one involving hunting and one on gun safety. Are under indictment for a crime punishable by imprisonment for a term exceeding one year;
Are a fugitive from justice;
Are an unlawful user of or addicted to any controlled substance;
Have been adjudicated as a mental defective or committed to a mental institution;
Are illegally or unlawfully in the United States;
Have been discharged from the Armed Forces under dishonorable conditions;
Having been a citizen of the United States, has renounced U.S. citizenship;
Are subject to a court order that restrains the person from harassing, stalking, or threatening an intimate partner or child of such intimate partner;
Have been convicted in any court of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence.
Well, I wasn't quite as misinformed as I thought, but I really don't give myself an A+ for this. Thanks for the DSA tip.
I'm sorry, counting the police shooting at a guy as he's running by a school as a "school shooting." is more than misleading. It's flat out lying. Why on earth should I be afraid of my gun? It's a tool, like anything else. Frankly, I know about 10 times as many people who have been maimed or killed by a chainsaw than have been injured or killed by a gun. And, that's actually true nationwide. Wisdom -- and statistics -- would dictate that I be more concerned by my chainsaw than I am by my gun. WE NEED MORE CHAINSAW CONTROL BEFORE MORE INNOCENT MEN DIE!!!
A number of journalists have already invalidated many of those alleged "school shootings." This was a simple case of lying to induce fear.
blrlgmblfg...I got RSA and PGP mixed up. Nevermind.
I thought enigmail relied on PGP which is, you know...not so private.
I don't carry a brief for the current president, but on the other hand, I respect Obama more than someone whom I consider to be a war criminal.
I hope that if I ever get this obnoxious, somebody will shoot me. I'm not interested in wearable tech. I'm not interested in having Google and anybody else know where I am every second of the day or what information I am interested in. No thanks. I'll keep to my uninfected jeans, VPN and duckduckgo, thankyouverymuch.
I don't think he's whackadoo at all. A fuckload of us skirted the black hole of the recession. Some went in. Some came out, a lot didn't. At least not whole. I think just a bit of big-heartedness is due here.
