I need to quit drinking pop. It's becoming a problem. The other day I drank an entire 2-liter of Mountain Dew.

Back in the day I used to work in restaurants. All day long I would drink pop, probably the equivalent of a 2-litre every day. I weighed the most I've ever weighed during this period. Then, I stopped working there and lost over 20 pounds in a very short amount of time by simply not drinking pop and having water instead. It's seriously amazing how fast it happened and how much better I felt. If this is your intent for 2013, I say go for it. Good luck.

Seconded, it was never quite that bad for me but I cut it out of my diet almost ten years ago and haven't looked back. Did lose a significant amount of weight at the time, as well. I limit my intake to the occasional San Pellegrino or ginger beer on a road trip.

I even quit drinking alcohol mixed with Coke or Tonic. -Don't miss it either and can't believe I ever ruined whiskey with Coke.

Well said. Straight Whiskey all the way. I'm sure I can FEEL the Coke eating away at my teeth and insides.

Ha, same here! It's the worst. Never again.

I had become so dependent on caffeine at one point that I went through withdrawal symptoms for a week after I decided to drop it cold turkey. I could have something like a coffee in the morning, a Rockstar during the day, and up to 2 litres of coke. I went 6 months with no caffeine before gradually bringing it back into my diet at a more sensible quantity.
