I'm new to hubski, and so far I've been very impressed by the standard of discussion and content here. I did a cursory search on the App Store and google play, and I can't see any mobile apps for hubski. Would any of you be interested in using a hubski mobile app? If so, what platform(s) would you intend to use it on? And for the technically minded among you, does hubski have an API? I heard it's based on the HN source, which would indicate probably not. Thanks in advance!
Would you be interested in collaborating on a Hubski mobile app? I've got no experience working with Android, but I've done a bit of iOS freelance work. Let me know if you've already started work on something, and if not hopefully we can work something out. You can PM me if you want my email or anything. Cheers!
Very cool gimi, I look forward to checking out what you come up with. Half decent is better than what we have now, right? Good luck and have fun making it.
I have some very basic android programming experience, and am more than willing to throw my lot in. I have to say, though, the site itself on my nexus 7 is perfectly usable.
I'll start specing out an API and see how it goes. Edit: I was looking at Reddit's API and that seems like a pretty good goal for a robust API.
The easiest thing to do, without creating a full-blown app, would be to make a mobile friendly/responsive design. So like, mobile.hubski.com or something. This would at least work around the fact that there's no API. I would point out though, that a mobile version of the site, whether an app or not, will most likely open this up to a different demographic (teens) which, based on other conversation I've read here, may not be desired.
Well, since we don't have access to the backend databases, pretty hard. It would involve lots of screen-scraping and any time the HTML/theme changes our API might break. And that's assuming we could even get authenticated actions to work (like voting and posting.)
A site like Hubski needs a mobile application if it is so become as addictive and constantly available as Reddit or other sites. I for one would pay for an app.
forwardslash is working on mobile and no API as of yet. But mobile is not too far off, thanks to forwardslash.
I'd love a mobile app. At this point I really only use my laptop for design and music production purposes; all of my net browsing is mostly done via my iPad and iPhone. That said, Hubski scales very well to the iPad's dimensions. I haven't had any issues browsing around, but it could always be improved.

-I agree, I use my iPhone on hubski often and the only pain in the butt is logging in (login button is small).... therefore, I just don't log out. But it renders well. I actually like using voice to text for comments too. All this said, if an app was made, I would definitely use it most graciously.
