They tried going head first on moral righteousness in the face of fake news with Al Franken, and that turned pretty sour pretty quickly. An unfortunate thing here is that every time someone lies like this it makes the MeToo thing less effective for victims. There are a lot of sociopaths in the world, so if we just say that an accusation is enough evidence to get someone shitcanned, then anyone can ruin anyone at the stroke of a pen or the point of a finger. That didn't work out too well for the Soviets, the Khmer Rouge, etc. For now, we still live in a world where evidence matters, and obvious lies should be called out even or perhaps especially in the special case when the lie is about a sexual assault.
One of the legs of your accusation that she's lying is from a guy named "Dr Who" on a forum. Everything the republicans did to Christine Ford the democrats are doing to Tara Reade and worse. Now Putin's involved? Your whole explanation sounds like a fever dream
Seems like another politically-charged media frenzy around little substance. "I clearly would remember if we -- that is, if Tara and myself -- had any kind of conversation regarding sexual harassment allegations, let alone something involving Sen. Biden. It would stick in my mind. It would be burned in my mind," Toner said. "I don't understand it." https://www.cnn.com/2020/05/01/politics/joe-biden-tara-reade-allegation/index.html Her brother's account seems odd. It evolves from only inappropriate to specific details of an assault: Moulton later told CNN in a text message that Reade told him in the early 1990s that she had been asked to bring Biden his gym bag, and that in a private setting, he had cornered her against the wall and put his hands under her clothes. Why take a side?Dennis Toner, who was Biden's deputy chief of staff at the time and one of the people Reade said she had discussed her complaints with, told CNN in an interview on Thursday that he had no recollection of Reade or any conversation related to sexual harassment allegations.
The Washington Post interviewed Reade's brother, Collin Moulton, who told the paper that she had told him in 1993 that Biden had "behaved inappropriately by touching her neck and shoulders" but not about the alleged sexual assault. Several days after that interview with Reade's brother, the Post said, "he said in a text message that he recalled her telling him that Biden had put his hand 'under her clothes.'"
I guess my big problem is that we're dealing with an existential threat to our country (Trump, not covid), and the media just don't have the same standard for both sides. If they did, this stuff wouldn't piss me off so much. But there are law suits against Trump for raping women that have actual physical evidence that have gotten less play in the media in total than one crackpot's potshot at Biden has in the last 3 days. If the media spent 30 minutes on Trump's allegations for every minute of Biden, I'd be less concerned. But democrats think they're being righteous by setting up a circular firing squad at every opportunity, rather than just shouting back, "Fuck off, there's nothing to see here so I'm not going to dignify it." Joe has real things to answer for, such as his treatment of Anita Hill, which was disgraceful. But until we're playing by the same set of rules, all bets are off on my opinion.
Oh, do you not enjoy sentences like "Critics of the Trump administration sometimes warn that he may be overextending the bounds of executive authority"? It's like watching an institutionalized game of telephone.
Neither side can agree on whether b_b's decision was correct, making it ambiguous as to whether or not his existence is even worthwhile
The situation is basically this: At some point in the 90s this woman, a former senate staffer, may or may not have told people that Biden made her "uncomfortable" a few times. Then at some point in the 2010s she developed a strange fixation with Putin's leadership style. Then at some point in the last year she claimed that Biden harassed her. Then at some point this year she claimed he assaulted her. Then at some point last month she claimed he raped her, and some douchebag journalist trying to make a name for himself wrote about it when no one else would touch it due to its obvious falseness. Then the Bernie Bros blew up about "believe all women Bernie is the real nominee!!!!!!!!" So now Biden had to actually go on TV this morning and formally respond to what is very obviously a Russian disinformation campaign. This article is just another attempt to debunk her bullshit by pointing out that when she finally gave an account of her "rape" that she used language that was plagiarized from her dad's unsuccessful novel that I guess she didn't figure was in print or searchable. It's a bad situation when we know everything that happened in 2016 and whatever the current iteration of the Internet Research Agency is can still be this impactful. Trump, right wing media, and Russia are really really good at pushing the buttons of moron liberals on the internet. Just look at Al Franken's case. He was forced to resign because of news that was so verifiably fake that not even Hannity would touch it. The media are a bunch of dupes also, since even when they write about it as fake news they throw gas on the fire by making sure it stays in the public eye.
