I just put together some dough for today. Apparently my scale needs a new AAA, so I just winged it. Like rd95 and Dala, I'm also on the hunt for a good cookie recipe: my immediate supervisor is moving to a new job and I told him I'd bring in something for his last day. I've got until Friday, though.
And you feel uncomfortable about that? I think it's great that you have the opportunity to eat two pizzas in a row. Eating habits are subject to change if you put your mind to it. The presence of the opportunity, on the other hand, is a cause to celebrate. Despite my new diet, I will join you at it soon. :)
Not super uncomfortable, at least from a nutrition standpoint. My job is to pick up heavy boxes for a living. I can burn off pretty much anything I eat. BUT. This was my first pizza that was entirely plant based. From an ethical point of view, I'm pretty comfy with that. edit which isn't to say it was a perfect analog to traditional pizza... I had some grating issues...
I tried a vegan burger a couple of days ago. Oddest thing I've tried in a long while. It has its appeal - it was tasty, not like your regular burger but in its own way - and the issue is that I'm not used to it. Had I the resources, I wouldn't mind making one a couple of times a week.
Yep. Analog is the best way I know how to describe vegetarian/vegan food that is recreating staples where animal products are the star and center of the meal.. It often doesn't quite get there, but it does get close enough. Especially when the memories of what it you're recreating have become mired in the fog of time.Oddest thing I've tried in a long while. This is the only sort of Christmas in July allowed in my house. Found a pretty simple recipe online and they turned out quite good. Here's the link: http://whatsgabycooking.com/molasses-cookies/
Mine (it changed a lot over the years as various refreshes happened) is wacky and old and fun just to flip through. Along with "The Art of French Cooking", it's the only cookbook I've ever actually used more than once. Not life changing or anything, but an interesting slice of time if found for the right price. I paid $8.50 for it, which seemed about right in the age of food blogs for as far as the eye can see.
I was gonna say "Of course we do!" but upon looking for it, it looks like we don't. Maybe it was one of the books that ended up in our handful of book purges the past two years? I dunno. We do have The Culinary Arts Institute Cookbook, so I could take a look in there, but I'll have to find it first . . .
This week we made molasses cookies. rd95 started talking about ginger snaps for next week, but scrolling through the blog I found this week's recipe on, I found a recipe for Naan: http://whatsgabycooking.com/homemade-naan-harissa-yogurt-sauce/ Looks like ginger snaps are overruled, dude.
