WOOO!!!

Welcome back! We've kept it just the way you left it, save some cool newcomers and a few more re-posts of Sartre's Cookbook. The usual.

Just out of curiosity, how do you find "anything of value" on 4Chan at all? I've been on /b/ a few times, which was... thrilling... and /pol/ was obsessed with hitler at the time (all of the time?) so I got bored of that.

user-inactivated  ·  3586 days ago  ·  link  ·

The trick is to go on the smaller, less famous boards. Going on 4chan and only reading /b/ and /pol/ is like going on Reddit and only reading /r/funny and /r/adviceanimals and wondering why everyone is so stupid. 4chan in general is dying, though. Too many people coming for le edgy genocide meemers.

kleinbl00  ·  3586 days ago  ·  link  ·

It's possible that the glory days of 4chan predate your literacy. Just sayin'.

user-inactivated  ·  3586 days ago  ·  link  ·

That depends. When were the glory days of 4chan? If it died before 2004, then yes. Shoutout to those 3 months where 4chan was good.

EDIT: What did I do wrong? Hasn't 4chan been dying since 2006 or some shit? Where in my post did I say something incorrect?

kleinbl00  ·  3586 days ago  ·  link  ·

Have a seat.

I think we've discussed before that Hubski is the sort of place where people know more about you than they do on Reddit because, well, we tend to overshare around here. It's a social affinity thing, whereby we form some of the bonds of friendship across improbable barriers.

I think we've also discussed that you seem to rub people the wrong way without really meaning to. As such, I've been extra-cautious to give you the benefit of the doubt in instances when you're... a little under my skin. I've been presuming that in general, you don't intend to cause conflict, but you also aren't properly equipped to minimize it.

It's also fair to point out that everyone here is assumed to be conversing like adults, acting like adults, and regarding things as adults, even if they aren't adults. We've got an admirable amount of mature younger members on Hubski and those of us who are older put a high value on their perspective. But honest perspectives are appreciated far more than affected ones.

And that's the thing. I have shoes older than you. That doesn't make me smarter, that doesn't make me wiser, but it does give me a greater well of experience from which to draw. It also increases the probability that I gave up on 4chan before you gave up on Underoos.

So sure. Bring up the cancer that is killing /b/. But know that when you couch it in language designed to imply insider status, your credibility is greater when your audience does not know for a fact you have not earned that insider status.

One bullshitter to another: know your limits, know your audience. Know that I'm tryin' here, but that there is effort being expended to give you the benefit of the doubt and sometimes, there isn't enough patience in a zen monastery to cover the deficit.

Welcome back, delta!

nowaypablo  ·  3586 days ago  ·  link  ·

I was gonna reply to you tagging Waterford, 'cause I didn't think he really tried to condescend or anything.

The dude's 15 man, that's how old I was when I joined the 'Ski. I'm sure I've made twice as many people cringe since joining than I've gained followers in that time. Give him a bit of time to figure it out..

kleinbl00  ·  3586 days ago  ·  link  ·

Oh no doubt. I don't think he ever tried to come across as condescending or antagonistic. But he sure came off as condescending and antagonistic a lot. And a number of us tried to say "Hey, dude - you're kind of coming off as condescending and antagonistic" as politely as we could and it never went well.

So what's the answer? If your choices are caustic burn or detonation, are you better off suffering the burn or triggering periodic detonations? I know this - explosions are more work for a bomb than bile is for a gallbladder.

I'm honestly sorry to see the kid go. But when you can't even say hey, man, did you mean to come across like that? without causing the drams, well, my life is interesting enough, ya kna?

BTW - there's nothing wrong with being 12, 15, 17, 18, 32, 64, hike. But if you can't learn how to communicate with people without pissing them off at 15, it's gonna be way harder at 18... and matter way more at 21. I can't recall ever seeing you get into fisticuffs with anyone over anything. Generally it takes two on this stuff but some people will do more than meet you in the middle.

There was this one time when pabs wanted to fight me and well, I've been traumatized ever since.

kleinbl00  ·  3586 days ago  ·  link  ·

Was it finals week? 'cuz he gets a little pugilistic around tests, but that's just the stress talking.

nowaypablo  ·  3586 days ago  ·  link  ·

Hold your lunch money close, bub.

b_b  ·  3586 days ago  ·  link  ·

The dude's 15 man, that's how old I was when I joined the 'Ski.

Now you're like, 15 and a half?

(Just teasing, btw. Hard to tell in text, I know.)

nowaypablo  ·  3586 days ago  ·  link  ·

17, 15, same thing. I honestly haven't felt a change in maturity in myself since maybe 13 or 14 :|

b_b  ·  3585 days ago  ·  link  ·

You probably don't have a car, eh? Turning 16 doesn't mean anything without wheels. You need a milestone to remind yourself you're growing up. Graduating high school is a good one. I remember having to pinch myself on my last day of class, because school, from the time I can remember, say first grade or so, felt like a big prison fuck. Then one day you wake up and realize that the world has just granted you adult status. That's a maturity check, and I'm sure based on your age you're just about there, no?

nowaypablo  ·  3585 days ago  ·  link  ·

You're so right it hurts; good call. Been waiting to get my permit (drive alone w/o parent in passenger seat) since I turned 17, Mama Pabs won't let me yet. Let me out my cage, Ma!!

Man, I'm clocking out the moment I get an acceptance to a college I decide to go to. I'll make sure my grades coast till the end but.. you're right, I bet finally getting out feels like someone left their boat with the key in during your life sentence in Alcatraz.

Mine too. Those insurance costs, nawmean? It's insane. I honestly don't expect to drive until I've at least spent two years in college. Of course that also has to do with the other matter of not needing to drive once I'm at college.

elizabeth  ·  3585 days ago  ·  link  ·

I think it's probably so progressive you just don't notice it. Or you've been extremely mature since 13 :P

I cringe back on 13 year old me. I wish I had your good manners and diplomacy at that time. I was too smart for my own good and used to make "clever" remarks at the expense of some poor people. It didn't help adults around me found it funny... Criiiinge. Somehow I though that if it was funny, it was not mean. After all, they did it on TV all the time too.

I wish someone slapped some sense into me back then instead of just laughing...

user-inactivated  ·  3586 days ago  ·  link  ·

Try as much as you want. Last time I had a response to you, I acted like an attention-whore and nothing really changed. Here's a change for you. I'm never going to be good enough for you people. Maybe I'll come back in a year or two. If I'm ever good enough, I'll come back.

Thank you to everybody here. It's been interesting, anyway. I'll stop crashing your party. I'm tired.

resukureipuru  ·  3585 days ago  ·  link  ·

There should be a forum to catch all the people that fly at hubski and get zapped like this guy. That's like... an actual tappable demographic. or something.

_refugee_  ·  3585 days ago  ·  link  ·

Yeah, you call it the A-H and you make it and I'll populate it and then watch it from a distance.

resukureipuru  ·  3585 days ago  ·  link  ·

Well maybe I will. The Ass-Hole will be the /b/ hubski always wanted. We will be characterized by extreme saltiness towards the kleinj00.

kleinbl00  ·  3585 days ago  ·  link  ·
b_b  ·  3585 days ago  ·  link  ·

Seriously, dude. I'm glad I didn't know who those people were back then. Wish I still had that child-like ignorance.

I don't know if you have history with the above poster, but the jew comment is an auto-block in my book. WTF is wrong with people?

kleinbl00  ·  3585 days ago  ·  link  ·

They probably think they're original. I get occasional anonymous throwaway hatemail off Hubski, too, and I'll bet they think that's original, too.

resukureipuru  ·  3584 days ago  ·  link  ·

Yeah, I thought I was being funny by emulating 4chanisms. Like last time I said an offensive word on hubski. I resolved to lose the ironic edge after that. But I messed up here, because, "Oh, replies on hubski, the place full of understanding humans. Engage tryhard mode." Apparently it's worse than last time, because b_b actually blocked me as opposed to just saying my shit's lame. He should block me if I bother him, but being on the bad end of a "WTF is wrong with people?"...argh. I'd have apologized to him in reply to that if he didn't block me.

b_b  ·  3584 days ago  ·  link  ·

FYI it's the racism, not the being a dick.

resukureipuru  ·  3583 days ago  ·  link  ·

Alright. I'm sorry for using the slur. I won't bring that stuff here.

b_b  ·  3583 days ago  ·  link  ·

Better yet, don't bring it into the world.

sigh

eightbitsamurai, for his astounding powers of prediction. I believe that took less than an hour.

caelum19  ·  3585 days ago  ·  link  ·

It's like he writes the story of real hubski too.

user-inactivated  ·  3584 days ago  ·  link  ·

yall though I was joking when I said you write the plot for me.

Or do I write the plot and you all dance to my tune?

Who knows. Mwahaha.

OftenBen  ·  3586 days ago  ·  link  ·

God damn it.

Goodbye.

When was that "golden age" of 4chan? I remember back when I was a teenager (like 2009 I think) the boys in my class sept going on there, mostly for stupid pictures. I remember going there naively and noping right out of some thread with disformed penises. But I still remember them discussing how there were too many n00bs on 4chan at the moment. Probably trying to up their internet credibility amongst themselves but still, when was that time when 4chan was awesome?

kleinbl00  ·  3585 days ago  ·  link  ·

2009 was waaaaaaaaaaaay past its prime.

As with most internet shock forums, the "golden age" was the six months between SomethingAwful finding it entertaining and SomethingAwful growing bored and wandering off to raid something else. Think of /b/ as SRS and you aren't far off.

_refugee_  ·  3585 days ago  ·  link  ·

was it ever?
