I can't deduce what does clicking on a comment's hubwheel cause . When you click a post, you share it. But you don't share comments, do you? I've read Hubski Primer, but nothing about it there.
It adds a clockwise incremental updot to the spokehub. Somewhere in Missouri, it turns a light off. And then on. And then off. It floats higher clockdotted comments to the top of the reply silt. It releases unconscious tension into the electronic noosphere. It adds wasta to a user's reservoir of kudos which is measured by each individual's spoke metric shown at the top to the right of their name. It cures speleology. It anonymously ratifies your appreciation of a stranger's expression.
Good list. Indeed, it has a butterfly effect as ButterflyEffect knows. It potentially makes a comment author smile and feel valuable to the community. It potentially makes a comment author know that someone in the vast universe found his/her offering click-worthy.Somewhere in Missouri, it turns a light off. And then on. And then off.
Correction: I believe it is in Michigan, not Missouri. It adds wasta to a user's reservoir of kudos
What that means no-cheating is that mk, otherwise known around these parts as god has created a secret sauce (algorithm) that takes many factors into account causing dots to appear on the wheel next to your name. This might include #of comments and might also include #of comment dots. No one knows for sure. mk can correct me on this - but will likely keep the secret sauce secret.
I also wanted to ask, how are the dots on the hubwheel next to my username in the top left corner calculated. Now as you told me that it's a secret recipe, I'll think twice. I might get on myself the rage of god, who may take me as some kind of thief.
You learn something new everyday. And here I thought it was because I started taking a fiber supplement. It cures speleology.
You have fulfilled my curiosity. In fact that was what I supposed it does, but I wanted to make sure : ). Now I can consciously bring happiness to hubski users by clicking their hubwheels. BTW Is there a place here to ask about things like that? I mean some kind of Help?
Psst - You replied to your own post here. That means Complexity did not receive a notification that you replied to him, instead you may have noticed your orange circle in the upper left went orange (vermillion, whatever guys) and when you clicked it, you saw this reply on that page. To reply directly to another user's comment, hit the "reply" link underneath their comment, and a box will appear. Hmm, there's a tutorial, and faq, but not a help site or page. I think you're doing it correctly for how we set it at for now. Ask the community, and we'll tell ya.
Also in notifications I have seen cases when C -> D being posted next to A -> B -> C -> D as different notifications. Hope I made myself clear enough : ).You replied to your own post here. That means Complexity did not receive a notification that you replied to him
That's because I was targeting both Complexity and veen. But I understand I should have done it the way I'm doing here - shouting out.Complexity did not receive a notification that you replied to him, instead you may have noticed your orange circle in the upper left went orange (vermillion, whatever guys) and when you clicked it, you saw this reply on that page.
That is another question. Why do I (at least sometimes) not receive notifications (my hubwheel doesn't go orange) on nested replies to my comments? They always come on the first reply, but when the discussion gets deeper I no longer get the notification. I mean the situation when I make a comment A, someone replies to it by comment B, then I reply to B by posting comment C and the same person replies to C by posting comment D. I get notification on B, but don't get it on D.
You should always get a notification (email, if you subscribe) to new replies on discrete comments. Sometimes, they do appear nested in the notification "tree," so I know what you are talking about. I am not sure why there is that difference, nor can I speak to why/whether they would/would not turn your hubwheel orange, so I'm afraid I can't offer a lot of insight here. I am signed up for notification emails and handle all my replies, mail, etc, through those, so frankly I do not actually click on the hubwheel and read through my notifications much. Sorry!
Yes, also no-cheating used the #newtohubski tag, which is awesome. Well done!
I had a little dilemma on which tag to post that question : ).
I'm a bit late to the game but check out this list of discussions that may be helpful to new users and give you insights about some of the smaller details that make up Hubski: https://hubski.com/pub?id=136556 This one is full of insights about sharing that you may find interesting: https://hubski.com/pub?id=102546
Thanks. The first link mentions tag #suggestions. Why is that tag hidden in the tags list? Was it disabled? In fact I was in need and looking for such a tag once.
The tags list is generated on the fly from the most recently used ones. If you click through the #suggestions tag you'll see it is still active but was last used a couple of hundred days ago so it got shunted off the active, recent tags by others... ... like people spamming single posts with tags like #floorproducts #vinylflooring #laminateflooring #windowfurnishing But that's the technological democracy of Hubski. Hmm. Maybe that calls for a new suggestions post.
I get it, it's only the recent ones. I thought that tags page lists all of the tags used ever.
