There are at least three of us. Fuck that fiction/nonfiction thing, let's watch us some big-eyed, scantily-clad Japanese honky chicks grapple with issues.
I'ma recommend that anything chosen be readily available via netflix, hulu, or Amazon, and if purchased, for less than $10. I'ma also recommend that if it's a series, it be 10 episodes or less. So no "Dragonball Z".
We need to chat about Madoka Magica. I'll totally watch that shit again. I'd also throw Serial Experiments:Lain into the mix. I keep hearing things about Planetes. Let's pick something and watch it.
can we PLEASE talk Madoka??? i watched it several months ago and i'm still trying to process it.
Oh fuck yes.
An alternative to a bunch of booleans is html's select multiple tag. Then you could just have one form that you select "png", "jpg", "gif", etc to display inline: <option value="png">png</option> <option value="jpg">jpg</option> <option value="gif">gif</option> </select> The raw POST of what gets sent to the server then will be: display_inline: jpg display_inline: gif An example in practice: Sorry if this net nerd talk is tangential from the anime talk >_><select multiple="multiple" name="display_inline">
display_inline: png
The creator didn't get the nickname Urobutcher without reason. If have seen his previous works, you know what you are in for. Fun fact: This gave rise to the Japanese meme/slang マミる (Mamiru), which means to be decapitated like Mami Aldnoah.Zero hype
have you watched/been able to find online the rebellion story? that's all i have left to watch and i'm prepared for further emotional devastation
Ah, I don't have much to compare it to. My anime knowledge is limited to Cowboy Bebop and .hack//SIGN, both of which I loved. Sadly my short attention span makes it challenging to get through any TV show. The first of those took me six months to watch, the latter took me four years.
I feel like this is from some Christian documentary (maybe 700 club?) the exact phrasing comes up in relation to BADD: " Bothered About Dungeons & Dragons (BADD). She [Patricia Pulling], describes D&D as "a fantasy roleplaying game which uses demonology, witchcraft, voodoo, murder, rape, blasphemy, suicide, assassination, insanity, sex perversion, homosexuality, prostitution, satanic-type rituals, gambling, barbarism, cannibalism, sadism, desecration, demon summoning, necromantics, divination and other teachings." (source) http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/tabletop/columns/days-of-high-adventure/7494-Days-of-High-Adventure-Satanic-Panic It could be part of the 60 Minutes documentary here: If anyone finds it let me know, Satan fear of the late 80s/early 90s is really hilarious.
I'm down for that. Madoka Magica is totally fine. It's a deconstruction of a genre that I have zero familiarity with because why the fuck would I ever watch a magical girl anime if the only quality one is the deconstruction? If we're picking anime, I'm throwing it in for Welcome to the N.H.K. Currently available on Netflix Instant. The animation is fucking garbage but it's a better story than most books, which actually isn't too hard since most books are dogshit, but you get my point. I need to write my X-men review. Fuck.
I could so get into this, but work has been insane. Damn you kleinbl00!! :)
I think we should do the 3rd movie, Gekijouban Mahou Shoujo Madoka☆Magika [Shin-hen]: Hangyaku no Monogatari after the TV series as it continues the story after Madoka alters the basic functioning of the universe, while the first two are just recaps.
It's on Crunchyroll. SD for free, up to 1080p w\ subscription. I have three 48-hour guest passes, if anyone wants them.
I can provide episodes for free if needed. I have a large collection of anime. More than a boat-load of anime. A ship-load, perhaps. Maybe a pirate ship-load. A pirate ship moored in a bay. Perhaps something like this?
We're going to need to have a discussion about remuneration for creatives when said remuneration is possible. There's a reason content isn't free and while I'm a realist about what is or isn't available, when you can watch stuff through legitimate channels, you should watch stuff through legitimate channels or else there won't be anything to watch.
HDT isn't really that great. Try BTN for TV, PTP and TC for Movies and PxHD for both. AB for Anime. And be careful while handing out invites. If your invitees cheat/leech irresponsibly/otherwise screw up it can affect your account adversely too, leading to revoked privileges, warnings and bans for you along with your invitee. AB has open application which can be passed easily. Just requires you to know about torrenting and actually be interested in anime beyond the main shounen stuff. PxHD too, but they require you to have accounts with a good standing in other trackers. Try getting to PU+ on trackers which will give you access to internal invite forums that allow you to enter even more trackers.
Restricting it to 1 cour (or maybe 2) would be more reasonable than 10 episodes. A large percentage of anime goes on for 12/13 episodes, which isn't exactly 10 but is still a far cry from DBZ. Planetes would be great. After we are done with that, how about the superior side of anime, involving pretty boys (preferably the Galactic kind)? I think adding CR as an option would be nice too.
I thought for sure you were going to be talking about Space Dandy. Although some wouldn't consider that "anime"
