So what do you believe will happen if say the market dips? You thinking Great Depression like conditions or something along the lines of the recession in 2009?
I love mindful meditation for myself, but I agree that there isn't enough scientific evidence to support the supposed benefits of it. Maybe its a bit of a placebo effect? Not sure exactly. There is definitely a huge market for mindfulness, and it's being squeezed dry.
Lead author of the report Nicholas Van Dam, a clinical psychologist and research fellow in psychological sciences at the University of Melbourne, contends potential benefits of mindfulness are being overshadowed by hyperbole and oversold for financial gain. Mindfulness meditation and training is now a $1.1-billion industry in the U.S. alone. “Our report does not mean that mindfulness meditation is not helpful for some things,” Van Dam says. “But the scientific rigor just isn’t there yet to be making these big claims.” He and his co-authors are also concerned that as of 2015, less than 25 percent of meditation trials included monitoring for potential negative effects of the intervention, a number he would like to see grow as the field moves forward. Van Dam acknowledges that some good evidence does support mindfulness. The 2014 analysis found meditation and mindfulness may provide modest benefits in anxiety, depression and pain. He also cites a 2013 review published in Clinical Psychology Review for mindfulness-based therapy that found similar results. “The intention and scope of this review is welcome—it is looking to introduce rigor and balance into this emerging new field,” says Willem Kuyken, a professor of psychiatry at the University of Oxford in England, who was not involved in research for the new report. “There are many areas where mindfulness-based programs seem to be acceptable and promising, but larger-scale randomized, rigorous trials are needed.” From article: https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/wheres-the-proof-that-mindfulness-meditation-works1/
No.
Quick list since I'm working. - Dead Space 1 & 2 - Resident Evil 7 - PT - only a demo but good - Outlast - Amenesia The Dark Decent - Until Dawn - Faith - creepy as hell 8 bit game - Alan Wake - Eternal Darkness - great lovecraftian horror game. Made me question what was real or not. To make it fun let the insanity meter get really high.
+1 for 10 Cloverfield Lane. John Goodman is freaking great in that film. The horror is extremely subtle throughout. It's also set in the Cloverfield universe and that is a another rabbit hole you can immerse yourself in. Have you seen the Cloverfield Paradox?
I stopped like halfway through the series. I stopped right after he was kidnapped by Maeve. I gotta start that series again.
Jim Butcher is such a good author. Love the Dresden files to death.
Haha probably not. But you can't change what his art makes you feel.
Many people forget that the point of art is not necessarily meant for you to like it. The objective is that it make you feel something. This feeling is completely subjective. Just because you feel disgust isn't wrong. Some may love his work, but some may hate it. Both feelings are valid.
The old dwarf looks at you with a smirk upon his face. " Six pints of bitter eh? The world may end, but only fer yerself. " He quickly slides you six tankards overflowing with an amber liquid. " That'll be 30 copper." P.S. Nice reference.
The door clatters shut behind you as the smell of stale beer hits your nostrils. You see a wisened old dwarf peering at you over the bar, cleaning a glass. A quick glance about the inn reveals the regulars posted up in their normal spots. A dark haired elven woman is the only one out of place. What do you do?
Thanks!
Is there a conceptual screenshot?
I use the ugly theme. Really is the superior theme. Fight me.
Been listening to this every day. I turn it on and do whatever suits me. The ultimate background music. Other than that been really into Lawrence and their newest single. Posted it below.
Honestly it's about time. We've been in a bull market for far too long.
You guys open the doors early here. Taking my brother to the airport this morning after a successful trip. We went all over town and did some awesome things. These things included, getting drunk at Dave and Busters, getting drunk at a beer festival, getting drunk playing board games, and we visited the Getty museum.
My brother is flying in from Illinois to visit this week. I'm picking him up this afternoon from the airport. I took some days off, so we'll be bumming around LA and having some fun. Itll be nice to actually spend some time with him as I haven't really been able to since high school circa 2000.
As much as I'd love to see Warren in the White House, I'd have to agree with you here. The DNC will pull some stupid move and we'll end up with another four years of Trump.
Also you've only ever received 3 grand total for Hubski? I guess it is smaller than I thought.
Good to see you two are doing well. I remember when I first started in here. I remember you were handing out stickers at one point. Where could I acquire those?
Didn't think it was a personal criticism. Sorry, I guess that came off a little harsh. Yeah we may not recover, but we'll try our damnedest. The ingenuity of the newer generations is nothing to underestimate.
I think this article is a little bit over zealous in stating that the millenial generation is fucked in regards to the American dream. While yes, we do have less income, this is nothing new. We've been dealing with this shit for a decade. I'm sure there will be millinials that lose their jobs, but a good portion of the working force is baby boomers too who may also lose their jobs. We'll get the short end of the stick and recover. We always do.
So what is the correct action if a veteran criticizes my concern for foreign policy and our wars? I respect them that they served our country, but my opinion is still valid is it not?
I mean NSP is a fun parody band, but I'm not sure what this has to do with my comment here.
Been listening to the Oh Hellos again. If you like folk music, you'll love them. Here is a sampling of their music from NPR's Tiny Desk Concert series.
