I sure thought my dad was a jedi when I was younger. That means you're doing it right! If you need help yoyoing then Youtube is the place to go. There is a wonderful wealth of tutorials.

I am currently studying physics at Otterbein and then I will transfer to Case Western to double major in mechanical and aerospace engineering. Its a joint 5 year program. I was really proud of my prelim routine but my final routine was not the best. I ended up falling asleep briefly at the contest because we had to wake up at 4a.m. to make it to the contest. I woke up right before I went on stage so I was little out of it for my final. Overall though I was proud of how I did at the contest. I ended up placing 11th out of 36 overall.

Awesome but $60 to $100 per bed per month is NOT cheap. Hospitals can have hundreds of beds and copper is one of the more expensive metals. Perhaps the design could be altered to minimize the amount of copper necessary to cover the railing.

I haven't been around for a long time so I'm just now noticing this response but I am still yoyoing now! I just competed at Pennsylvania States a couple weeks ago! I've been in college and doing all sorts of things and haven't been on hubski for a long time but I definitely am going to return now. Also I saw that documentary when it came out and it was indeed interesting.

I find it awesome that you boycott Walmart. That's very admirable. I try to go there as little as possible but sometimes it's simply too convenient.

The Duncan Freehand Zero is a fantastic starter and you can often find it at toy shops and probably Walmart for very cheap.

Well the different kinds of yoyoing are based on the style of play e.g. looping, string tricks, offstring, ect. I do whats called 1A or string tricks. It is the most poplar style of play. A high quality metal yoyo designed for those types of tricks are usually somewhere around $75 to $120. Although there are some high quality plastics that play very well and go for somewhere around $40. Looping yo-yos are much less expensive and usually range from about $10 to $25 and they are the traditional style of yoyo. If you would like to learn more here is a HUGE post for people new to yoyoing on the yoyonation forms: http://www.yoyonation.com/talk/index.php/topic,2488.0.html

It is a growing community but is still relatively very small. A long time ago my dad brought home a box of his old stuff from his parents and there was a bunch of yoyos in it and he taught me some basic throws. Then I looked up some yoyo stuff on the internet and stumbled upon some professionals and it absolutely blew my mind! So I found some tutorials on youtube, bought a good yoyo online and the rest is history!

I'm actually a yoyoer myself. I've gone to and yoyoed in some competitions. It's an awesome community where almost everyone is very encouraging. It's always fun to trade yoyos and share tricks. Here is a video of me if your curious: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DetTDHB7Nxg

Your completely correct. I noticed that memes are almost common knowledge amongst teens due to sites like 9gag, memebase and reddit. They kind of blew in he past few months.

I really enjoyed this! Give me hope in my terribly cynical mind.

I actually come here as an alternative to reddit not because of this type of thing, but because I think the website's content is rapidly declining in quality.

Things like this are always so fun. They make these incredible concepts a little easy to picture and imagine.
