fred  ·  4857 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: App to take a picture, assign to a person/object and uploading it to a blog or website
This seems nifty enough, but I am trying to think of applications that might be a better fit. I would think that there are industrial applications where taking a picture and assigning it to a person or group would be useful. Realty comes to mind, but even municipal inspectors might use it.

The camera work made me a bit sick. :p

Studying/understanding a "freckle" on the "elephants tail" may be a more apt analogy. Glad the particle guys and the comsos guys are joining forces. The next decade in science should be a blast.

Immigrants are taking over our national past-times too; baseball, football, basketball! What's next hockey? Wait, I believe Canadians have that one too.

"Through the Wormhole" is a great series. I had not seen this episode yet. There was a post in the past here about man's greatest engineering feats; I think the large hadron collider at Cern should qualify.

"that's why I always look in the last place first". -also from the comments.

He has a great voice. "The essence of your mind is intrinsically pure". I'm off to go clean my mirror... oh wait, there is no mirror.

Great read, thanks. I particularly felt for Robert Stevenson, the man that passed on his opportunity in order to remain with his sick wife, only to then become sick himself when his next opportunity would arise.

Unfortunately, CNN does very little to help us find the answer.

This is a very important subject, but CNN gives a guy playing with a touch-screen and almost no details.

Kevin Bales is more than just "an expert": http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kevin_Bales

Dr. Bales gave a TED talk too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HUM2rCIUdeI&feature=sub

fred  ·  4896 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Remembering Hemingway's Farewell
The last thing that Scott Simon said was "Ernest Hemingway died by his own hand...". I believe that answers the question posed: "How could a man who had defined courage as "grace under pressure" take his own life?"

By his own hand.

Thanks. That place must have smelled awful afterwards. I was surprised that the little rocket boat worked. And, what did the potato car at 20:50 cut through?

This is nice. Those little spinning things make me anxious, but closing my eyes has the completely opposite effect.

I wonder, are there pleasant images that makes sounds that become obnoxious when detached from their source?

It is a beautiful car. It's timeless.

>Law enforcement officials said he intended to sell $24 million of cocaine to prop up his flailing auto business.

It seems Delorean was a man of conviction: What? The UK is pulling out? Ok. I'll sell a ton of coke.

This one of the Han Dynasty vase struck me: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/ai-wei-wei/art/slide...

It's especially poignant considering not only China's current transformation, but the fate of these artifacts during the Cultural Revolution.

The photographs are ghostly. Atypical settings might have been more interesting, especially considering his demise. A crowded church, a busy street, or a neighborhood bar. That would be striking.
