Conservative not republican. With a peppery dash of little-L libertarian. -XC
King Arthur white bread flour recipe. My "secret" is that I use a scale to measure ingredients. A bit less water in the summer, a bit more in the winter. I also let it rise (generally) longer than they say, at lease overnight. -C
I can't even take the quiz, the questions are silly. They lost me on page one with... "There is now a worrying fusion of information and entertainment." ?now? Myths, legends, holy books, good lord, does anyone thing the 200+ pages of nautical instruction in Moby Dick was an accident? "Military action that defies international law is sometimes justified." I don't even know what that means, but I suspect that they mean "treaty" or "standard of behavior" rather than law. So I'm off the chart then, thanks very much. -XC
I think driverless cars will be most active at night, delivering themselves to the humans who ordered them for the morning. Per the comment below, I expect a bunch of "Whoa" lights on each car. -XC
Those are great human factors ideas. I suspect this will be a big deal at night in square states. And in countries like Oz where the distances are long and the trucks are even longer (five on a tractor). -XC
Don't be scared of the dads with guns, be scared of the dad who doesn't need guns.... I do actually always warm up with an empty bar to regularize my form and breathing. After 30+ years of lifting, I have a lot of muscle memory. -XC PS - If you meet a dad with a daughter and think: "that guy probably pulled when he was young," then you've met a dad who can see through you.
I'm not a huge fan of barbells for a lot of exercises - you can easily pull small muscles if you have bad form and get off line. I use them for biceps because I have a bad left wrist (old break, badly healed) but otherwise I stick with bars and weights. I do 6-10 sets of 10 reps on the flat bench, three sets of ten each incline and decline, working to failure on each set. Then I do three sets of back workouts - high row, low row, back extension. That is my chest/back routine. I do 6-10 sets of 10 reps of alternating seated dumb-bell curls and super-set them with shoulder raises. Then I do 3 sets of ten isolation curls with dumb-bells super-setted with Arnold raises. Then I do three sets of preacher curls with dumb-bells and use a weighted bar to do shoulder pull-ups. That is my arm/shoulder routine. I usually use a rope on a universal machine to do tricep pull downs/extensions, either three heavy sets of one or two sets of both. I also run regularly, alternating longish (10K) and hard runs. My goal is to scare the 16 year old boys that are around my daughter. The smart ones take me seriously. :-) -XC
Could have been worse - could have been FDR's first 2.5 terms...
Perzactly. I've been doing a variation on the same workout in the gym since, I dunno, 1982, when a steroid enhanced gay body builder from PR ("Jes call me Romeo") came rushing over to warn me about hurting my knees by doing squats wrong and showed me his core workout. The only time I've ever injured myself in the gym was when a newly minted and super attractive trainer talked me into "dynamic patterns." Took me six months to recover from a six week "pattern." -XC
I think the trick is not to find a person who can make the best of a bad situation, but a person who can ameliorate the bad situation. _XC
Oh, no, we tried to run a quiet guy last time and the Democrat media machine destroyed him. (Plus the ran an unorganized campaign.) I have no idea who is gonna pop up in 2016. Not sure I care if the right side of the party controls the legislature since I think '16 is gonna be a bad year to run as a Donk. -XC
Did you really just say "wet dream?" ROTFL. -XC
I got the impression that they are filing suits for other people as well. IP is IP, you know? _XC
Love to but long drive from Naples..... -XC
I'd go farther: you can peddle bad math to almost any scientist but a mathematician who does other science. Doctors are the worst - they're not scientists but we treat them that way. Based on the krep models behind climate science, maybe they are the worst actual scientists. -XC
Room-mates. I had two or three at all times. -XC
Easily. I did before and a LOT of things were a LOT more expensive. Music was, effectively, out of reach. As was a nice TV. Computer what? Internet what? And cars were more expensive to own/maintain. It was nice that butter and milk was subsidized, but lawzy beef was more expensive. Clothes were more expensive too. Plus I'm too old to date, and my wife wouldn't let me anyway. -XC
Sign me up.
It's clearly a gross 4th amendment violation. Wonder if this will wake up some people who think the first and second amendments should be "living" and "flexible for the modern era." -C
Cab Medallions are a form of unionization, which is really rent seeking. Smaller government has less capability to interfere in things, so I'm a fan. -XC PS - If not clear, I am in agreement with you.
Foolish. It's not a $65 cab ride, it's a $192 cab ride. If you want the $65 version, go stand on the curb and wave your arm. If you want the $6 version, go ride the bus. If you want the $1 version and a better arse, get on your bike. -XC
Yeah, and the late fees and the lack of things to watch, ......
All I know about iTunes is that when people talk about Apple design philosophy and how brilliant the guys at One Infinite Loop are, I know they're not talking about itunes. It's the Joe Biden of Apple. Which makes their crappy ear buds their Hilary Clinton, I guess. _XC
No, wasn't that. Now i can't even find it, though the episode is 1/2 through on my Roku at home. It's called New Tricks - on hulu, actually. Hmmm, differentiation issue much? _C
Agree, both with the moral thing (dude, it's a commercial product, not a church) and the strategy analysis. I used the micro-focus thing last night to find a brit crime drama I'd never seen before. Sure, it is not Kurasawa, but it works for me after a long day. _XC
Hmmm, that site tried to get me to download malware.... -XC
I'm six foot. Enough said. -C
