Amen, Mr. Will.
"I will try not to come to the attention of any television camera more than once a week, and only that often if I am convinced that I can speak without violating what will be my administration’s motto: ‘Don’t speak unless you can improve the silence.’?
Doesn't sound like a Clinton ...or anyone else likely to run.

I don't know if no opinion is what is needed but I do find it disgusting when the headline is what the president thinks about an issue that has nothing to do with the presidency.
When he comes out and tries to lead the nation in mourning after a school shooting or it just seems like obscene politicking to me. The president only needs to say something like "My deepest sympathies go out to all the victims and families involved in this travesty." He doesn't need to have a press conference dedicated to it, he doesn't need to show up and steal the show from the real devastation and grief involved. If as president I am asked what I think about the death of a rock star, or the imbecilic opinions of rich blowhards who own professional sports teams, I will say: ‘Americans should have no interest in my thoughts about such things, if I had any.’
Perhaps such an approach would have worked 100 years ago, when federal power was, relative to today, extremely small. Nowadays however we need a strong executive to guide the federal government in its facilities. Furthermore, being the figurehead for the US abroad, we need a president who is confident and knows how to wield power. This is not to say we should have a power-hungry president, but barring any major changes in the role of government in America, we need a leader with an agenda.
You mention Clinton, who do you are as her likely opponent on the right and are they any more "Grover Cleveland-esque?"
Oh, no, we tried to run a quiet guy last time and the Democrat media machine destroyed him. (Plus the ran an unorganized campaign.) I have no idea who is gonna pop up in 2016. Not sure I care if the right side of the party controls the legislature since I think '16 is gonna be a bad year to run as a Donk. -XC
