The communities that practice polygyny are doing it right now, regardless of the law. It can be pretty brutal, but so can monogamous marriages, and they should be treated the same. Domestic violence should be (and is) illegal, and no one should be forced into marriage against their will. In practice, of course, people are going to be indoctrinated from a young age, misled, and pushed into marriage (polygamous or not), and we should find ways to stop that. Banning certain types of marriage is an ineffectual method, because polyamory is unenforceable.
I'm a Comp Sci student. When I'm not doing that, I play games, mess with computers, watch netflix and go to the gym.
I've used guns all my life. I'm a pretty good shot with anything from a .22 to an M2. I was an expert with a SAW, and used it in combat. I currently own a .357 revolver and it's a beautiful weapon. I love it. But if someone broke into my home with violence in mind, I'd probably beat the crap out of them with a rolling pin before I went for my pistol. Not because I have any compassion or mercy for home invaders, but because there is a much wider spectrum of damage that can be caused with a rolling pin. With a rolling pin (or really anything I get my hands on) I can break bones, bruise organs and crack ribs. I can decide, on the fly, whether to disable, hospitalize or kill. With a .357, they're getting shot. I can shoot for the legs, or the arm, but at the end of the day, a piece of lead just tunneled through a part of their body, and that is always very, very dangerous. You can't pull bullets like you can pull punches. You either shot them, or you didn't.
I like Sanders mixed stance on gun control. We need a mixed stance on gun control because guns are a complicated issue. On one hand, we need to keep them out of the hands of criminals and psychopaths. On the other, we need to keep them available to responsible citizens who know how to use them correctly. This is one issue in which compromise is absolutely necessary. As opposed to all the other issues in which I'm entirely right, and republicans are entirely wrong. :D
Well. I don't really know what to say to that. Mostly I think I just don't care. The republican party is almost entirely Christian already, and heavily, loudly Christian at that. So mobilizing more Christians to run for office is redundant. I'm an atheist, by the way. I guess that's relevant.
You don't, do you? Never thought about that.
Physically, I'm trying to get down to 200 pounds. I was a butterball as a kid, and I was obese as an adult, excepting the few years I spent in the military. I touched 289 about six months ago, realized I was back on track to be 300+ again, and decided not to do that. Now I'm down to around 240, and I have some new muscle coming in (lifting weights) and life is good. Professionally, I'm trying to get a degree in computer science. I plan to hit the next semester hard and get my GPA out of this slump.
"I love that movie as it is especially known for showing excessive violence when the fact is that it rarely shows any violence whatsoever." Except for the ear. :D
I think polygamy should be legal. Polyamory is impossible to stop, so it's a non-issue.
Ok.
Words have no inherent moral value. They can't be racist or misogynistic. The people posting them may very well be racist or misogynistic- or they may just be trying to emotionally damage someone that is otherwise untouchable.
It is. Some of the features haven't been implemented yet, but it looks promising.
A Dark Room is awesome. Thanks for the tip.
I left the U.S. Army and came "home" (where my family was at the time). They move around a lot, but they stayed just long enough for me to get into a local school, meet my wife and settle down. Then they left. So, the reason I live where I live is because my family lived here at one time.
A lot of redditers are of the opinion that Pao angled her way into the reddit CEO position to give herself an advantage in her case, which is why they think it's relevant. The average reddit user has been desensitized to vicious rhetoric due to the internet, and insults have shifted to the extreme in order to retain effectiveness. This doesn't make them racist or misogynistic, it just makes them assholes.
Don't play too much anymore. Used to be ranked silver.
Chrome is a little quicker and prettier. That's it, really. I've actually been using Vivaldi lately.
Cool. I hope they do a good job so I can abandon Chrome again. I don't like giving all my info to one company, and Google already has my email.
Have fun! :)
This laptop had 8.1 on it. It's much more responsive with 10.
Right now I'm under the impression that it will just update from whatever version you have to 10, and keep your files. Don't know for sure though.
I'm not a fan of desktop "apps" either, but they do work much better than they did in 8. They open in a window for one thing, ad of going fullscreen.
I know the feeling. Windows 10 did away with charms and the metro-fullscreen thing, which makes me happy. 8.1 was a mess- not as bad as Vista, but a couple steps back from 7.
