I have lucid dreams that I can often re-enter if I fall back asleep quickly enough.
Last night I had a dream about a character from the Game of Thrones TV series. In my dream she was a girl I was dating in college. Also in the same dream I happened to be at a tribute concert for Paul McCartney and I was seated right beside him. I remember making him laugh and thinking, Paul and I are going to be pals.
Then Paul stole my girlfriend who was the girl from Game of Thrones. There was a lot of chasing Paul on the rooftops of the University of Montana campus for some reason. Then, a really, really cool guy I grew up knowing named Eric showed up. Eric died (for real) about 5 or 6 years ago. In my dream Eric reappeared and his mother, half crying and half smiling showed me to him. Then I said to him, "you weren't dead?" and he said, "nope." and I said, "people thought Paul was dead too, but he wasn't."
Then I went to a basement to find the kind of freeze dried coffee that Eric's mom liked.
Bizarre.
What about you? Do you dream? What's the most recent one you recall?
I love dreaming. It might sound strange, but I make it a hobby of sorts to remember them. I have pretty crazy and abstract dreams, many of which revolve around the theme of some cataclysm or personal struggle. Not sure why though... One of the last dreams I had I remember running away from a Mexican drug cartel that had bought my local police department. If I remember correctly, I ended up at some woods, with my hands tied about to executed. The dream ends there. Sometimes they feel extremely real and can't seem to wake up from them. In one, I fell from a high structure and died. Weird thing is I felt myself rising and seeing my lifeless body. Sometimes they just feel so real I'm not sure how to wake up from them. We spend so much of our time sleeping... what's happening up there?
Sometimes I wake up knowing that I've had a recurring dream, but as I move to put it on paper it evaporates. I do remember a piece of one from before I went to college. I was in the bath with a woman and I knew she was dying. She was lying on top of me but somehow I was looking at her face and seeing her on top of me. I looked into her eyes and then the dream went black and white. Another one I remember is that I was on a football (soccer) pitch, watching the players running toward me. A player went in to kick the ball, which was me and as he connected, I woke up violently. Oddest hypnic jerk I remember experiencing.
I recall a dream maybe once every couple of weeks, but even then I rarely feel like I'm dreaming, remembrance or not.
I often randomly remember long lost dreams from months ago for no apparent reason during the day.
This will happen to me as well. It makes me wonder if I am correct in thinking the dream was months ago, or if I re-dreamt it the previous night? Serendipity or "chance" when mingled with the dream world are the stuff of "magic."
I don't usually remember dreams, but occasionally I will have some that stick around. Recently I couldn't sleep well before a flight to a big conference the next morning. I had several different nightmarish dreams in-between waking up. I can remember one where the cat kept running out of the house when I was trying to leave and I kept putting him back in and he'd escape again. I got fed up so I just clocked him right in the head and felt really bad. There were other ones that I could remember for a while but I've kinda forgotten about them now.
I don't recall my dreams very often, though I sometimes do if my sleep is broken. I'm waiting to have a dream I can post about here...
Have you ever tried keeping a pen and notebook beside your bed? Then immediately writing about it? Having an "assignment" may help the remembrance linger longer.
