Some information shouldn't require you to navigate to a new page. For example, if I want to know who shared a post, that should be readily available. I would also like to be able to know who someone is following without going to their profile page.
Starting today, some information like this will be available in a drop down frame to the right.
In all likelihood, this is the first iteration of this design. IMHO, the best decisions are guided by use, and before we go any further than this, I’d like to find out what feels right, and what doesn’t.
As always, feedback is much appreciated.
EDIT: Click on a user's name, or a number such as "shared by: 8", or "followers: 11", to see it.
I want to play up information that makes it easier to get what you want out of the site, and play down information that creates a competitive feel. It's a work in progress. I have this vision of completely removing the 'all posts' feed, but before that could happen, discovery has to be much improved.
We've got a pretty great core base of users here. Of course, I hope that we'll continue to grow, but I'd like to without the experience diminishing. -That's the real challenge. I still check in at Reddit myself from time to time. I'm not sure Hubski could be a total replacement, or it I'd even want that. Since we are doing things different, there might be things that Reddit has that we don't, and that we have that Reddit doesn't. I'm just going to keep doing what feels right over here.
