There's definitely some truth to the term "nanny state". But there are also certain regulations, that I'm glad exist. I suppose there is a fine line. It’s all caused by idiotic government regulations that are wrecking our lives one consumer product at a time, all in ways we hardly notice.
I hate when things "wreck my life" and I don't notice.
I've never heard of a "regulation" cap. It's an interesting, my initial thought is that as new technology exists it's somewhat inevitable that new regulations will too. But then also as new technologies exist, some old regulations should become moot.
I don't know if I made it up - I would doubt that I did, but I do read about it from time to time. I would suggest that very little new regulation is required for most new technology. Any new regs needed for smartphones or ipads or longer lasting running shoes? -XC
