I think it's a nice idea, though I wish the video on the kickstarter featured more of their music. The music they did have in the video seemed a bit . . . too World Music for my tastes, but I think it's a nice project. I will admit that it was a bit of a bummer seeing a Lee Enfield turned into a flute though.
I agree, it's an awesome statement. I was recently listening to NPR and heard of an organization that builds violins and other orchestral instruments out of scraps because in the areas they are in, a violin is so valuable that even if it was gifted to a child via philanthropy, the family would sell it. The "scrap yard" instruments hold little value and therefore the children use them. I'm on my phone now but will attempt to find a link later. Cool post and "welcome to Hubski".
