Hi there :)
In the past year or so I've been slowly getting into electronic music. It started with C418 because I played Minecraft a lot. I have every album of his (except for his newest, one). Then I got into Floex and I have two of his albums (*Pocustone* and Zorya).
My friend introduced me to Röyksopp (favorite songs are probably "Remind Me" and "Eple"), Aphex Twin (I really enjoy "flim"), Clark ("Night Knuckles"), and Boards of Canada. She gave me a youtube playlist of random stuff and a handful of MP3s of all of them. I ended up buying one Röyksopp album (*The Understanding*), which I like some of the songs. Boards of Canada is good, but generally just a bit too ambient for my tastes right now.
Okay, and on to my point! So based on these artists, albums and songs that I enjoy, what other electronic music artists would you recommend? I'd also really appreciate being pointed to specific albums, if possible.
Thanks a lot in advance!
Brian Eno is the grand old man of the genre. But in the same category as Boards of Canada. Maybe too ambient. His "music for airports" album is quite nice go to sleep set. Check out Com Truise. Onra is also tight. You should know Groove Armada and Thievery corporation Since you seem to like d&b style: Plump dj's made one quite hooking And you might enjoy b-complex. Thanks for C418 and Floex and Clark. I'm obviously not following this shit anymore.
I put together a playlist from /r/futurebeats which you might enjoy. Click here if you have spotify.
If you want a mix of Electronic and Jazz, check out Herbie Hancock's album Future Shock. The most popular track on the album is probably Rockit.
I agree with vlehto, you should check out Brian Eno! Here's a couple of great trip-hop artists: Emancipator, this is my absolute favorite trip-hop artist. Chilled out rhythms, it's really easy to get lost in this kind of music. And Emancipator is very, very good at what he does. Layered electronic structures with some great use of piano. I also really like Blockhead, who isn't quite as lied back in his approach to trip-hop. You'll notice that it's a bit more grating, the drums are a bit harsher, and not quite as lush, but I like that different sound. Burial is probably my absolute favorite electronic musician. His music borders on or is dubstep, or at least what classical dubstep is before it became overrun with who could produce the craziest drop. This is some great music especially for at night, the beats are always good and his production is impeccable. The shear quantity of great music he has put out is crazy. Hopefully these are along the lines of what you were looking for.
