What is your favorite type of tea, and why? Have you had any exotic flavors? Where did you find them?
I like black tea mostly like English Breakfast or Earl Grey. Just enjoying a cup now and thought I'd see where everyone else stands.
Hibiscus with Holy Basil from the yard when I had one.
Now Jamaica (hot and iced) and Yogi's Egyptian Licorice are favorites. I drink herbal tea because proper tea is theft.
That and a pun.
though It is always good to stay away from extractive goods.
chocolate, rubber, cocaine, diamonds bananas.
the local folks rarely benefit. But mostly I am borderline hypertensive and the Hibiscus keeps it in line.
Oh lol, the pun went right over my head! Yea I've heard good things about hibiscus for hat sort of thing. Worked in a tea shop and had a woman come in every week for hibiscus for a similar ailment. I've never heard of it being mixed with basil but that sounds very interesting! Ill have to try that out.
One time I came across a tea that I fell in love with. I believe it was a green tea, but the kicker was that it has lotus flowers in it. It was such an amazing taste. From then on I've been going into every tea shop I can find but it hasn't shown up since. Of the teas I can find my favorite is Adagio Tea's Earl Grey Green. There's something about it that's different from other Earl Greys and it's incredible.
My favorite #tea when I wake up is Yorkshire Gold Blend. I've been using tea bags but I just found out that they also sell it loose leaf which blows my mind. I also drink tea throughout the day and lately I've been on a bit of a Harney and Sons kick. I love their Palm Court black tea blend and their peppermind herbal is, bar none, the best mint tea I've ever had. And I've been to Morocco and had real Moroccan mint tea, so that's saying a lot I think. Interesting tea experiences wise, like I said I've been to Morocco. I've been to a tea ceremony in China and sampled a number of different teas there (I still have a box of jasmine tea I got there that I break out as 'special occasion' tea). A bit less 'exotic' I suppose is at the Drake Hotel in Chicago - you can go and have Afternoon Tea. They have a fancy fountain and harpist, you pick a tea and they give you finger-sandwiches, pastries and deserts and infinite hot water til you are stuffed. It's amazing.
That's great! Your experiences with tea sound awesome, my sister went to Morocco and did the same Stuff, I was jealous. I'd love to try the new types of tea that you're suggesting. My sisters boyfriend just received a loose leaf tea holder shaped like the death star. I want it.
I'm curious, where in the world do you live thefoundation? My family drinks tea in the evenings, usually Earl Grey et cetera but I've never been one to drink much tea. It seems a cultural gulf between the United States and the rest of the world. For the most part, in the US we don't take it as seriously as other countries. I'm not sure why this is, or if I'm wrong in this perception. We love our coffee, but even then we tend, for the most part, to consume mass produced chain coffee like Starbucks, Caribou etc. Once, I had tea at a restaurant in Ann Arbor Michigan that was served with homemade biscuits, jam and crème fraîche. That was an amazing experience.
Well I was raised in NJ. That has nothing todo with it though haha. My grandfather was Scottish and an avid tea drinker as are my Grandma and Mother. I got it from them just casually drinking. Not at a set time say in mid afternoon or night but whenever it felt like a good time for tea. I like all kinds but my main staples are the classic "proper" tea. So I'm a thief I guess haha
