I would say I see about 1/4 to 1/5 of masks not worn over the nose. there was an impossibly pale, impossibly privileged 'boomer out walking her schipperke at the park, and by "walking" I mean "sitting on a bench" giving me the death'n'doom stinkeye for daring to jog without a mask. Her own didn't cover her nose. This is the problem: for some people, they really are the MAGA hats of the Left. Sure - they're fighting COVID or whatever but they can't be bothered to look into the "why" even a tiny little bit. So sure. If there's a better way to signal your virtue than wearing a mask, do that instead. Maybe virtue prevents infection, I dunno.
I dont really plan on surviving this honestly. The public-at-large is not philosophically equipped to suffer minor indignities for the sake of the lives and well-being of those most at risk. That's completely without getting into those who are politically and theologically opposed to ever doing anything to limit the spread of pandemic diseases. The problem was never solvable at this point in history. Maybe the next time a plague comes around we will be better equipped as a society to deal with the minor privations necessary to protect our vulnerable members.
I'm of the mind that it's in part because we have a critical mass of people acting in bad faith making much of this worse than it needs to be. Were the media not politicizing and sensationalizing all our issues and people not inventing conspiracy theories I'm certain much of our pain regarding covid-19 could have been avoided. Not all mind you, but much more.
giving up is what all the cool kids are doing nowadays donchaknow all the hip young old folks are joining the death cult of not giving a shit
