Yesterday was my sister's 50th birthday. So we had a party.

There's a food truck we love, who allows you to order online, and schedule a pickup time at any of the locations it stops at.

So she had everyone order food from the truck in 5 minute increments, and the truck parked next to a big open field.

Everyone came separately, and sat separately, on their own picnic blankets, chairs, and whatevers.

Every 5 minutes or so, another order would be called out from the food truck, and the person would go up and pick up their pre-paid food. The food truck workers never touched anything from the customer, and the customer touched nothing other than the bag the food was inside.

People brought the food back to wherever they were sitting, and we all talked and chatted across this pleasant little field, in the sunshine, with fresh food.

There was a lot of laughing. A lot of saying "What?" because it's hard to hear someone 20 feet away in a mask.

And we all sang Happy Birthday.

As far as I can tell, nobody touched a single thing anybody else touched. Nobody got close enough to each other to spread anything. And everybody wore masks. A couple of older people even wore face shields.

For almost every one of us, it was the first time in close to 3 months we have "socialized" at all.

And it worked. I'm pretty happy with how the whole thing went.

Definitely a memorable 50th for my sister!
