PBS was a huge part of my upbringing. I watched Mr. Rogers and Sesame Street often. My daughter is now 22 months old and she loves both shows. This morning for the first time she looked at me and asked for "Meester Wajer". Melted my heart. Today she learned about disabilities as Mr. McFeely brought by his granddaughter that despite her disability had just graduated from high school. Fred Rogers was an exceptional human being. Exceptional!

Why Romney would invite the imagery that comes with "killing big bird" in to his campaign is beyond me. What a dumb move. He clearly dominated the first debate but much of the talk afterward surrounded that one "Big Bird" statement. He stole his own thunder. Dumb.

Long Live PBS!

aside: I have a friend that just had a baby and named him Preston Benjamin. I was excited when I realized his initials would be PBS. -cool.

I'm a grisly old man, and this melts my heart every time I watch it.

I actually wish they would cut federal money to PBS/NPR. Its such a small part if each one's budget, and then we could stop hearing about how educational programming is pork spending. These people need to shut the fuck up and unfortunately they never will until government and the CPB are parted.

I know it's a small portion, but I would fear that, like any other organization, the CPB would have to cut funding to the areas of the country that didn't bring in the bacon. If you live in rural arkansas you may end up not having access to some fantastic programing that you otherwise would receive. -The article makes this point well.

It's simple economics and it's something that can be avoided when you have a portion of your revenue stream that is essentially there to fund these rural areas.

These people need to shut the fuck
yep.
