We have a nice stroller. Good wine doesn't last long in our house so no "collection" to speak of. I'm sure there are some designer names in the closets but some apparel, like cars, are just better made and will last longer. Also, some things will retain value longer, like a Rolex. Sell your Casio 30 years after buying it and see what percentage of value it retained. A Rolex can be a generational gift. -though I wear a "Swiss army" watch -nothing fancy. I drive a Taurus, my wife drives a 10 year old Jeep Liberty -things a champ. No furs. We do like travel. Our dogs don't get the spa treatment, just normal dogs.
The price of a Rolex is definitely subjective and there's actually a market for them. They go up and down over the years. I don't know a ton about them, but I have a friend that is a jeweler and does. I'll see if she can weigh in on how well they're made and what (if anything) differentiates them from say... my Swiss Army watch or your Casio. btw, today I made the best watch purchase ever. My daughter is always admiring my watch and playing with it. At the museum today I made an impulse buy at the register. She loves it:
