#2 - Fine wines - we have some we brought back from oz and some we got as gifts #3 - Specialty bikes - I have two, but both bought used and well used since, so half point
So, yeah, two, and I'd have thought zero.
I didn't even read this and I can already say zero. I don't even own a car, that's how awesome my life is. For reals. I did just learn about this shit though. Crazy.
Yup, I'm another Hubskier with none of those status symbols...
None of them. The only exception could be wines, but I don't own any expensive bottles. My sister's girlfriend owns a wine shop, so they are constantly bringing over nice bottles to holiday functions or just run of the mill gatherings. Additionally, twice in the past month vendors have done a tasting at her shop and left her with all of the opened bottles, so she'll call our family over after work and have a 'second tasting' with about nine bottles of excellent wine.
Zero for me as well, though I used to have a specialty bike my dad gave to me. It was given to him by someone who raced for Schwinn and I used it to compete in Whistler in the summer sometimes. Unfortunately it was stolen back before we moved to a nicer neighbourhood.
Our stroller is nothing like these photos either, but it's also not economy. I have to say, for something you use so often and have to travel with etc. It's worth the investment for one that is compact and durable. I also expect we will use it for at least one more child. A good investment imo. We really don't have any either. The fanciest clothing I own is all stuff readily available at any mall. Not really a clothes hound. The favorite shirts I own all came from concerts/shows. Unless my wife's bike counts. It's pretty nice. But a many others have the same bike available at most any bike shop. What do you think cliffelam? You're a bike guy and you've seen it, it doesn't count... right?
We have a nice stroller. Good wine doesn't last long in our house so no "collection" to speak of. I'm sure there are some designer names in the closets but some apparel, like cars, are just better made and will last longer. Also, some things will retain value longer, like a Rolex. Sell your Casio 30 years after buying it and see what percentage of value it retained. A Rolex can be a generational gift. -though I wear a "Swiss army" watch -nothing fancy. I drive a Taurus, my wife drives a 10 year old Jeep Liberty -things a champ. No furs. We do like travel. Our dogs don't get the spa treatment, just normal dogs.
The price of a Rolex is definitely subjective and there's actually a market for them. They go up and down over the years. I don't know a ton about them, but I have a friend that is a jeweler and does. I'll see if she can weigh in on how well they're made and what (if anything) differentiates them from say... my Swiss Army watch or your Casio. btw, today I made the best watch purchase ever. My daughter is always admiring my watch and playing with it. At the museum today I made an impulse buy at the register. She loves it:
