If I were the WH I would revoke his pass too and let CNN know that I’d be glad to offer it to another CNN reporter if their choosing. I watched the entire presser. When the president says “next question,” multiple times, you relinquish the microphone. The intern was doing her job. Acosta got two questions in. The guy was being extremely rude. I’m not Trump fan but the news organization that I think is the worst of all of them is CNN. Fox is the right, MSNBC the left and CNN pretends to be the middle. They’re not. I wish to hell they were. I’m stuck with PBS newshour. Cable news, CNN among them gave us Trump. They’ll get no pity from me. Again, Acosta was acting innapropriately. CNN sucks. Take the entire exchange and pretend it’s Obama at the podium saying “that’s enough,” after letting you know several times that your time is up and to relinquish the mic to the next reporter and imagine the reporter is from FOX NEWS. Now how do you feel about the behavior? You may hate the guy, but he’s the president. If he says, “next question,” you move on.
You can absolutely accuse him of grandstanding and say he looked bad in this video, but to falsely accuse him of assault when they just spent weeks acting like this was a scary time for men, when they said Michelle Fields lied is complete and utter bullshit. I’m not okay with movements I care about being taken over by people who look down their nose at it until they see how they themselves can benefit. What bothers me as well is they are using her, I can almost guarantee she wasn’t uncomfortable and isn’t at home icing her arm right now. I can also guarantee she likely has dealt with harassment in the workplace that her employers could not have cared less about. The sad truth about these people is that they believe women are lying until it benefits them and it’s pathetic. Never once will they ever sincerely give a fuck about how a woman is treated in this world. Women aren’t people to them. He made himself look bad, I don’t dispute that, but the flaming pile of shit I’m looking at is drawing more of my attention.
If this is being framed as if he assaulted someone then that is indeed, ridiculous. If it’s being framed as male aggression to a female that ridiculous and extremely irresponsible. If it’s being framed as “this guy is an asshole and doesn’t know when to pass the mic. There are other reporters in the room, and he needs to not be one of them.” Well, I’m okay with that. Is the president an asshole? Yes. Did Acosta act inappropriately? I think so. You may not respect Trump, I don’t, but we need to continue to respect the office. Pass the mic, yo! Or you don’t get the mic again. Pure and simple. But it was not assault. That’s just dumb. That said while watching it I thought to myself “holy shit. This is unpresedented stuff. What an asshole.” Regarding Acosta.
They’re framing it as he got his pass taken away for laying hands on a woman. That’s why they doctored the video. They said Michelle fields did that too, she didn’t. They said she faked the bruises, she didn’t. He was grandstanding and I think it’s important they remain composed because Trump wants to piss them off to make them look bad. If he was having a conversation with his wife and spoke to her like he did Acosta at the start of the video the end of the conversation would be her loosing her shit and him accusing her of being crazy. I understand you may want to preserve respect for the office for when the next president comes in but people around the world lost all respect a long time ago. They laughed at him when he addressed the UN.
I’m old enough to remember the George W. Bush presidency. Everyone thought he would be a one term president based on the fact that nobody took him seriously. -People in our country and the rest of the globe. But he won a second term. I think that the left is going to make the same mistake again. Assuming that the world doesn’t take Trump seriously because people chuckled at a UN speech. People take sanctions seriously. I guarantee China is taking him more seriously than they have any modern president. To underestimate this guy is a mistake if we are to win back the WH. He doesn’t care if you think he’s an asshole. You will never vote for him. He just needs his base and some of the middle. I think he’s a two-term President. When George W. Bush was in office I saw impeach bush signs everywhere. I don’t see that for Trump. There’s a lot of apathy right now. You may not feel it, your friends may not feel it but there are people in the middle that are being awfully quiet. These people were angered by Bush but are remaining docile w trump. Imo. If the economy tanks he is fucked. So long as it is improving he wins again. Trust me, it sucks to have a president that I can’t point to as a positive role model for my kids. That blows. I’d like him to be gone in 2020 but I’m concerned he is here to stay because th left isn’t enraged enough and isn’t taking him seriously enough. He’s not dumb.
People didn't underestimate Bush. They overestimated the Right. And have continued to do so lo these many years. There aren't a bunch of Impeach Trump signs because the Left has come to realize that the Right are totally 100% down with a world in which black men get shot by cops, in which white kids get a pass for raping white women, and in which brown children are taken away from brown parents. With GWB, we thought they could be made to see reason. With Trump, we're afraid to see how insane they truly are.
Remember Bush, eh ? Well you’re gonna break something with all this pivoting then old man. I remember it too, because certain things happening during that time affected the rest of the world. I don’t doubt he’ll stay in office for a while, but this midterm showed democrats they need to work hard in 2020 and that although they made gains they need to energize their base as well. The thing that most enrages the people I know is that there’s an entire group of people who act like it doesn’t actually matter who’s in office because they live a comfortable life. There’s no empathy for asylum seekers who have yet to be reunited with their children or who have been reunited with a child who has been traumatized by your country. This very conversation, you’ve pivoted away from a conversation about women because it just doesn’t affect you. It’s easier to just say this will pass like Bush did because it has no affect on your life. It’s easier to make the issue about respecting office because the other issue has no place in your mind. They took his pass away because he “layed his hands on a woman”, end of story. They doctored this video to back up that belief. You might be willing to change the argument or focus for them but they climbed this hill and they can die on it before I let them change what they said.
I didn’t watch their video. I mentioned that I watched the actual live presser. I mentioned that I didn’t realize they framed it as male aggression and I mentioned that this was ridiculous and irresponsible. This “old man,” wasn’t pivoting, he was having a conversation.
Again, I thought that maybe I was having a conversation. They tend to flow in to new areas, you can call this pivoting if you’d like. I’d invite you to re-read our back and forth and I’d challenge you to find where I was anything less than civil in my conversation with you. This has crossed in to non productive waste of time territory. Time is something I don’t have a lot of. Onward!I’m old enough to remember” was patronizing BS.
it is? It’s just a fact. If someone told me they were old enough to remember Nixon, I wouldn’t find it patronizing, I’d find it contextual.
Or... “if you don’t want someone sticking their hand in your personal space, then hand over the mic after the President of the United States repeatedly asks you to.” Acosta was being a dick.
Fake News is the Great News when it's on your side according to the Trump Administration.
