It doesn't excuse the Tuesday Pubski, but it's been a crazy three months.
That's great, y'all! I lol'd....the startup is quick to point out it is not associated with Thiel Capital.
I have some questions that may or may not be stupid. 1. What's YC S17? A Y Combinator funding cycle? What's Y Combinator? I see the Wikipedia article, and I can read English, but I still don't really understand. Is it venture capital, or is that description too elementary? 2. Are there current uses for young blood stem cells, or is this hedging bets on future applications? 3. Does this mean I can stop murdering teenagers for their blood? This will save me a fortune on laundry detergent. 4. Are you operating in Wisconsin?
1. Wikipedia is your friend. 2. Both. Have a listen to this interview we did. Will answer. 3. Yes, please stop. 4. No, but Ann Arbor isn't too far away...
I look forward to hanging with you on your 110th birthday!
lol. That's awesome, kb. So glad you'll be joining "the banked!" goobster, you should sign up! Anyone that signs up to have us collect their cells, use the referral code: HUBSKIER
Wow, congratulations to the team ! If you find yourself with some spare time, I would love to read about your experience there.
Crazy. Saw an article on Techcrunch about your company on my facebook news feed. Big brother is watching me or you guys did a great PR campaign.
That is super bad ass. Congratulations guys. It must've been hard keeping the lid on that one.
Can y'all talk about your experience with getting approval and/or communicating with the FDA? I'd rather hear your observations if you have any than ask something specific. The startup is FDA-approved to bank these cells and is offering the service in seven states. What it does not have FDA approval for is the modification of those cells for rejuvenation therapy.
Great picture thenewgreen I'm curious what you can do with this in a few years! (and it seems I have some reading up to do on this)
Thanks pal! It's been a wild ride. YC is no joke. I have learned more in 3 months and worked harder in 3 months than I could have imagined. This is a singular experience and it will be difficult to put its value in to words.
You gotta do something for others to invest in your company, and even better if you can get something out of it as well! And it seems you did get something out of it, so that's good. Although I must say I'm kinda surprised you guys started this company. For some reason I was under the impression mk was a physicist and ecib, well, I don't know.
That sentence: "Forever Labs has also proposed its own clinical trial to take your stem cells and give them to your older cells." is journalistic confusion. It should read 'older self'. So is the statement about FDA approved as I mentioned below. The first version of this article said that Steve was the scientist... what can you do? That aside, the commentor is correct that we plan on expanding them. That's intrinsic to the value of these cells, they can be expanded to massive numbers outside of your body. Otherwise, their use would be severely limited. The majority of clinical trials expand them before use. If you aren't using them as part of a trial, you cannot expand them in the US. If it's part of a trial, you can. We are going to run trials.
