Steam is almost upon us, GOG is almost over.
I've grabbed: Psychonauts Which I'm enjoying quite a bit. VVVVVV Haven't played any of this yet. Super Hexagon Which refuses to launch at the moment. I think I'm missing a 32bit library. A Story About My Uncle I enjoyed a lets play of it, but it isn't as great to actually play thus far. MIND: Path to Thalamus Enhanced Edition Not sure yet. Feels like it's aiming for something it doesn't quite hit. Pretty, though. A Bird Story I cried twice. I'd be picking up To The Moon based off of this. NEO Scavenger Played enough to know I'll like it, but that's all. Shelter 2 I've already failed my kittens. :( Crypt of the NecroDancer As yet unopened, but I've wanted it for a while TIS-100 Satisfying. I wish I had a mechanical keyboard and a CRT to play on. Dropsy ????? Braid Another game I've wanted for ages.
Good games, Dropsy is actually one of my all time favorites as far as the artistic elements of a game are concerned. Beautiful, sad, and silly all at once. Chris Schlarb does an amazing job on the soundtrack, and I really appreciate that there are no words in the game. VVVVVV is tough as shit at times, play with a controller if you can. Braid's great, I played the whole thing in one sitting. Fight the urge to look up solutions to any of the puzzles. I haven't checked to see if they're on sale, but two great puzzle games that don't seem to be that widely known are Snakebird and A Good Snowman is Hard to Build, if you're into that sort of thing. Be warned, Snakebird will take your sanity.
I just beat it. Took me a long while to realize that he was adding new drawings of his friends in his bedroom.Dropsy is actually one of my all time favorites as far as the artistic elements of a game are concerned. Wipeout has come to the PS4. It's a 50GB download. Then if you want 2048 and Fury it's another 40GB each. That's 130GB of textures, bitchez. I have been playing this game, off and on (mostly off), since 1994. It is now in 4k. It is now HDR. It now has an extra set of controls so you don't have to give your thumb carpal tunnel holding down the throttle. And it now has accurate enough motion control via the controller that you can legitimately get around Sabenco Climb in a Goteki 45 in Venom Class without having to be a superhuman monster. And to you Smash Brothers losers saying "isn't that like F-Zero" no it is not go play Super Mario peon. Us nerds were blown away when Sony's first gaming console had a goddamn 32 bit processor with tech lifted from SGI while you peons were still blowing dust off of cartridge pins. It had yaw and pitch. And Bowser don't play here. Yet I find myself shooting Gregs in Destiny nonetheless because despite a few concessions to novice playability, Wipeout remains an extraordinarily challenging game. It took me 11 tries to get through the first time trial. While Prodigy blasted.
From GOG, I picked up SimCity 4 Deluxe, Industry Giant 2, NEO Scavenger, Emperor: Rise of the Middle Kingdom, and both Imperialism games. I also got Big Pharma and Tropico 5 deluxe from the humble store about 3 weeks ago.
GOG.com had the full Settlers on sale, so I got that. Also noticed that the Caesar city building games were on same so I got those as well as I cannot get the cd's to work correctly on Windows 7 any more. Also, they announced a new edition and HD 4K art pass of Age of Empires. So, it looks like I am going to be buying that again.
Well, Starcraft would go into my top ten, my top three would definitely be X-Com, then MOO II, then TIE Fighter. Fallout 2 and Secret of Monkey Island would go in there somewhere. I'm trying to decide between Doom II, Quake, or Duke Nukem 3d (kind of want to go with DN just to stir more controversy). Shit. All of my games are from the '90s. I don't PC much anymore.
