Not a pet story, but I don't know if it's due to climate change or what, but there has been an absolute boom in the lizard population where I live. Most years, I'd come across little skinks and other typical, common lizards probably four or five times a year. This year though? Dala and I see that many on a slow week. They're all over the place. Crawling along the rockwalls, in the mulch, scurrying into the garage. If there's a place to find a lizard, chances are, there's one there.

If they were there all along, I don't think I'd appreciate them as much, but this is absolutely great. If I sit still on the back patio as the dog suns herself, I'll be garunteed to see at least one, and sometimes it'll come within ten feet of me. When you mix them in with the sounds of the cicadas, the birds, and general sounds of the neighborhood, it makes for a great summer experience.
