Contra!! Such a great game in it's time.
Before that we had a NES that my cousin had given us but it only had tetris, tennis, and super mario bros. We played that occasionally but there is only so many times you can beat Super Mario Bros before it gets boring. We used to lay on our backs and play it upside down to make it more fun. If you put me in front of Super Mario Bros I can still beat it in about 10 minutes on one life. I don't even think about it, my fingers just know how to do it.
Personally I've had more fun on the PS2 than maybe any other platform (I don't have a PS3 yet). So many great games; Timesplitters 2 was many many hours of fun.
I have very fond memories of the original Bionic Commando on the NES, but I'm afraid if I ever tried it again I'd be disappointed. I'm happy to just let the memory be preserved, as is.
NES games in general have stood the test of time; Bionic Commando is no exception. However, if you find yourself with a 360/PS3 then the remake, Bionic Commando Rearmed, is awesome.
I really think the best all time console is the PC. Technically it isn't a console but it is my favorite platform on which to play games. I will always own and will frequently play a PC game, but if the rest of the consoles disappeared tomorrow I wouldn't care.

I have to agree. I love those games where you can just turn on some music, and go to work. I enjoy Xbox live, but it's not the same.
So while it's clearly not the best, I'll just say, Dreamcast, you'll always live on in my heart (also on that shelf over there with all the other consoles <3).
Not much of a gamer but I played the shit out of some EA Sports games; NHL, Madden when I was in college. I think that was a Playstation 2. I used to school scrimetime in some FIFA. Viva Germany!
