I can only think of improvements. Some of my favorite songs are "Romeo and Juliet", Indigo Girls version (much better than the Dire Straits original), Janis Joplin's version of "Bobby McGee" (much better than Chris Kristofferson's, though I sing his lyrics when I play it on guitar), Manfred Mann's "Blinded by the Light" (Sorry Bruce Springsteen), and Katakowski's "What is Love?" with Anna Naylor singing "Beat me, Daddy!" in the background.

It's a good exercise, though, I'll think further...
