What's Up Fatlip? by Fatlip. He once was a member of the Pharcyde hip-hop group. Instead of the usual braggadocio of rap lyrics, he talks honestly about his simple life, his failings and the facade he presents. A tremendously honest song. It reminds me of Johnny Cash's version of Hurt in that respect. There is IMO a really good making of documentary by Spike Jonze that provides a lot more context. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x26vx7_fatlip-what-s-up-fatlip_music
Spike Jonze has directed some of the best videos. I have the first 4 volumes of the Directors Label and have watched them so many times.
I would actually go a step further than you and say many of them are great short films with great soundtracks. How can one possibly hear Da Funk and invent a story about a dog boy on crutches with a boom box? Or make Electrobank about gymnastics drama or maybe faded high school glory days? Amazing.
Cibo Matto - Sugar Water I guess this is quite well known.
I love this song and perhaps I'll be introducing some of y'all to David Byrne. May not be the best video. Don't recall, but nothing DB does sucks.
This video seems likes it was directed by what would happen if David Lynch and John Waters were to breed. I love both, so it's right up my street.
Hey, I only just figured out that I had an inbox. (Now I know what it feel like to be my mother on the Internet...) Life is glorious. There are no more Guinea pigs or chickens, sadly (because foxes. Red foxes AND super-rare-in-Europe black foxes). There is a cat, however, whose raison d'ĂȘtre appears to be tormenting the dog. How are you? Is it hot there?
Oh no. That's a shame to hear about the guinea pigs and chickens. Wildlife will do that. We also have foxes around here, but also raccoons, possums, and coyotes to pay attention to too. They all of course provide their unique challenges. And yes. It's hot here right now. I don't think there's a single state here in America that isn't hot at the moment.
