Interesting. It is similar to our block, but if I understand correctly, the blocked user can still reply, however the blocker does not see it although everyone else can. Here the blocked user cannot reply to your comments. We have discussed this approach, but considered that if the blocker couldn't see what the blocked user was saying, the blocked user might take advantage of it to spread un-refuted misinformation or similar things. EDIT: I forgot, this was another complication we considered. If a blocked user replies to me, and others reply to him and a comment chain forms, will I see the rest of the comment chain? The alternative was to do something more explicit (comment deleted or even you blocked this user).
