"It is advisable to think before doing anything." Sagely wisdom, next to a dog taking a bong rip... Enjoyed the video, especially the garden of broken statues.
Don't worry about it. You are learning a craft, and that takes time and experience. You get better in ways you won't even notice until later on, when you will go back, look at old episodes, and think, "Wow... I'm a lot better now!" Just keep doing it. Keep trying new things. Like kleinbl00 said, you have an innate understanding, and are doing good work. Keep it up. My only suggestion is that you do not always need to be looking into the camera while narrating. You can also narrate while the camera is panning across the scene you are talking about. (Although you may have to do that later on, depending on how directional the camera mic is, and whether it will pick up your voice well if it isn't facing you. If the camera is pointing away from you, try holding the camera close to your mouth as you pan across the scene and talk. It might help the camera pick up your voice better.)
Yeah, I've been messing around with that lately (see the shots of the beheaded buddhas). It all started because I fucked up at some point and while I was saying something important, the image was crap because of flickering lights that I didn't notice while shooting (gotta change the shutter speed manually to stop the flickering). In any case, It's been fun :) I've learned a lot doing this, thank you all for the tips!
The beheaded buddhas at Wat Umong are probably victims of the same Burmese sacking (1767) as Ayutthaya was. Which, if you have time, you should totally check out. I found it extremely spiritual. The weather is likely pretty muggy this time of year but it's still spectacular. I'm pretty sure Zynaptiq Unveil runs as a plugin in Final Cut. The demo runs for 20 minutes, which is more than you almost ever need, and it only has five controls. Your production quality is impressively high considering what you're working with but a little extra never hurts.
Oouhh awesome! Thanks for that, I'll definitely look into it :D I realized too late that my camera doesn't have an input for external mics (not that I can really afford one anyway) The sound is definitely the weakest point in terms of my production quality right now - can't believe I might actually improve that! I tried messing around with audio-enhancing features but it just makes shit worse. I know exactly nothing about audio, time to watch some tutorials.
Your audio is actually great for on-camera, "know exactly nothing" audio. There's a lot that you seem to be grasping innately and that's awesome. I'm not going to give you any tips that will slow you down. A little post-processing on the track will help with things like how boomy/roomy your hotel is. I don't think your audio is your weakest point. If I were you, I'd get in the habit of shooting wider than you need and then using Final Cut's image stabilization to smooth out your wigglier shots. I mean, you're posting at 1080p - nobody is watching your stuff at 1080p. The vast majority of your viewing public is watching it at 360p or 480p, meaning there's gobs of resolution you can steal for windowing. Shoot wide. Window to 720p. Let Final Cut stabilize the shot. Get some coffee and chill.
