I feel like you made this song to make people laugh. I didn't find it funny, and there was a weird lack of substance. It could have been literally half the length and I would have gotten just as much out of it. Cut that thing in half.
Um.... Tell me more about what you feel. Protip: just listen to half. I basically write and record a song about 4 nights a week. I typically have about 2 hours from concept to finished tune. I had no idea that what I made this night would be this. There was no intention. I don't think it's funny. I think it's open for interpretation as to its intent. -which I like. If you'd like a truncated, funny Bernie song....write one.
I found that line majorly inspiring tng. It made me realize that if I'm going to get the 1-woman-show done by my bday 2017, I'd better start working on it... i.e. do something four nights a week. One or more hours at least. To be a good hockey player, I'm going to have to play a lot of hockey. btw, after April I'm open to editing yr start-up docs, in exchange for stox, but I imagine all the principals have wives for that sort of thing.I basically write and record a song about 4 nights a week.
I found that line majorly inspiring tng.
-That's awesome, I'm glad. I am constantly hearing music, playing music or recording music. Much of it isn't that great (see below song that I recorded last night and this morning) but no matter what I always learn something.
I feel ya man. That's how I write music too. Open to interpretation is cool, but I mean it's not really very avant-garde enough to be open to interpretation don't you think? I mean, I'm honestly not sure what I'm supposed to interpret. The lyrics are pretty straight forward and so is the tune in general. I'm not saying I hated it by any means. It's solid, I'm just not sure exactly why it exists at all except for the sole purpose of artistic expression.
I made it, it exists, so I shared it with my friends. It's not open for critique because it's akin to a right handed painter drawing, left handed on a napkin.
Ah, I thought you just had it up open to critique. I don't know much of how this place works yet, I've spent the last 10 years on 4chan.
No worries, I'm not offended, but this place is definitely not 4chan. Many of us have collaborated on music together here and we've been a community for over 5 years. It's always nice to have newbies though, especially musicians :) Welcome! Let me know if you have any site specific questions. Cheers
Yeah mate actually I do. The traffic here is pretty slow in comparison. Why 5 years of being live and so slow the traffic?
There's a huge difference between a community created to grow, and by growth profit and a community that exist solely for the facilitation of thoughtful interaction. Not trying to be "big," just trying to be good. But there are thousands of us. The difference between thousands and millions is enormous though.
Strange though, you would still think there would be more. From what I can tell from the front page #music is the most lively page and there are only a few thousand posts in it's entire history. That seems oddly low considering.
Yeah, there's not a ton of quick content. It's a slow pace, for sure. That's kinda how we like it though. A conversation on a post can span days, weeks and even months. But if you think the music tag is lacking, by all means... Add to it. I look forward to your posts. I'll follow ya. Check out our purpose page to get an idea of our intentions: https://hubski.com/purpose Hubski is not for everyone, but check it out. Take your time with it.
It's not that bad. It teaches you patience. People are mean and all have their own opinions. I did enjoy the fact that anyone can say anything. Free speech and all that. Just a shame that most of the free speech is called spam.
I feel like this bodes well with an article I was reading today about how CBC might make people use real names when commenting which personally I think is great. A lot of other people seem to think it has an effect on free speech, which I find ridiculous because if people don't want to have their opinions associated with them... Why have them ? IIRC on 4chan you don't even have a profile to associate with comments. Here you're actually a person really. This site really is more of a community in the sense that you actually get to know the people here. It's not a huge cluster fuck like other larger sites which is one of the main things people enjoy about this site. It is at least one of the main things I enjoy. I'm guessing your comment just seemed out of place at first because everybody else knows tng. Like if somebody critiqued my paintings me and my friend would probably laugh, because I just paint to spend time doing something constructive so I can justify binge watching netflix. Just a bunch of amatuers enjoying life really, I'm sure you'll find a place here. :) Welcome.
Also: did you create this profile just to shit on a song? Not really my "thing" to rip on strangers here, but as a first post, this is a pretty dick move. Maybe you were trying to be constructive, I dunno. Weird way of showing it, though.
Nah man, no way. I'm not that kind of guy. It just happened to be the first post I checked out when I got on the music tag. It may have been harsh criticism indeed, but I'm pretty critical in general. Sorry if it came off as rude.
Okay. Bit of gentle advice. Check out the site and pay attention to the dynamic before jumping in. Thoughtful, polite interaction is encouraged. Words matter.
Come on man, what I said wasn't even wildly negative. I didn't say it was shit, I just didn't say anything positive. But i get what you're saying. Lurk more.
