... I didn't jump tho :(
Are you the kind of person that would?
Great video! I've jumped from cliffs just about that high in Lake Superior. It's a lot harder than it looks. Once you are up top, it looks farther, and your body just doesn't want to do it. I've never been bold enough to flip or dive, however. A bad rotation can be awful. I hope that guy jumped.
The worst thing is the feeling just after jumping when you you suddenly realise how high up you are. It's almost like a dolly zoom effect. I've never jumped off anything that high but... nope to this. I'll practice on smaller things first, if I get the chance. Like what you said, I want to be able to stick the landing.
I did this rope swing thing in Zambia. I love heights, but it still took a measure of doing to literally step off a fifty metre cliff. Also, thirty metres of free-fall before the rope catches and you find out for sure it's clipped right. Fun. Every time. Fortune favours the brave. :DIt's a lot harder than it looks. It absolutely looks way higher when you are looking down rather than looking up My mind trick is that once I decide to jump, I go up there and immediately do it without any further thought. I can't even wait two seconds. But the second time I can stand up there as long as I want and it isn't an issue. And yes I have had some severe belly rashes from trying to flip. :)
When I was young I performed a very similar stunt. I was with a group of people and they were all jumping from a large cliff into the lake. It turns out that there were portions that were not as deep as others but one could not tell the difference as the water was murky. Broke my foot on my first jump. I was cringing the whole time I was watching the video. Enjoyable commentary, though.
