"Books are a stable, production tested communication protocol suitable for a wide range of information services." I love it! The phrasing reminded me of an old joke book from the 80s that presented a pencil as the latest technology in word processing. The lead was the "printer port".
An alphabetical list of every project remotely related to privacy or decentralized communication isn't very helpful. I recommend the curated and organized lists at PRISM Break and the Free Software Directory instead. These actually make it very clear how to use each tool, and what proprietary service it can replace.
This is great! I generally use PRISM Break to find privacy software, but this list is much more comprehensive.
I'm happy to see that there is a decent amount of development going on in the field of privacy. Hopefully, one of these will eventually emerge as the fast, reliable method of providing a free and open Internet which I've always hoped TOR would eventually become. I'm less happy about the fact that there is no way for me to know how many of the projects on that list are honeypot projects designed to provide anonymity (minus backdoor).
