I think you're writing off his talent to willingly. He's pretty damn incredible. And there's only so much old stuff to listen to, you've got to mix it up eventually.

It takes more than 'pretty damn incredible' to get into Smokey Robinson's^ league, but no one ever listens to him anymore. And this is basically what he sounds like, except more iconic. Which I don't understand, because his music, by r&b/motown standards, is extremely accessible. ^Or Marvin and Tammi, or Four Tops, etc
