Cody Chesnutt wrote some dirty neo soul about ten years ago that had a sound that'd fit in with artists forty years ago. He kinda lost his mind for a while and toured an album he never recorded. I really don't understand what he was trying to do. He's got a new album I need to check out.
You know what? I really do wish I looked good in leather. I don't. Never have. Great track, fun listen. Thanks for pointing me towards this comment flagamuffin.
Huh. I heard one of his songs on the radio the other day and basically thought, if you're gonna listen to this style might as well listen to the best of it, not the newest. I have always viewed sounding dated as an advantage when it comes to music.
It takes more than 'pretty damn incredible' to get into Smokey Robinson's^ league, but no one ever listens to him anymore. And this is basically what he sounds like, except more iconic. Which I don't understand, because his music, by r&b/motown standards, is extremely accessible. ^Or Marvin and Tammi, or Four Tops, etc
I'm listening to Dan Mangan. I've always liked his music. He has a way of making bitter sound beautiful. Middle Brother is just kind of fun. Joy Kills Sorrow came out with a few good tracks then just seemed to have stopped. I wonder if they'll start up again. I kind of hope they do.
J-POP METAL TIME!? J-POP METAL TIME. Can't wait for more from Ladybaby, but BABYMETAL is already pretty well known, so that'll have to do for now. THINGS THAT AREN'T J-POP METAL, yet still manage to keep that br00tz factor at 11: NEW IWRESTLEDABEARONCE! :D
NEW LAMB OF GOD! Off their upcoming album, "VII: Sturm Und Drang"
Wow, i haven't listened to this is so long.
tUnE-yArDs "Gangsta" - Live at ACL Lo-Fi AfroBeat Jazz? I forgot about these guys for a while until it came up when I put my iPod on random
what's freeleech picks this month showed me Sohm -- full album, 2014, Tremors I can't think for sure what this reminds me of. It's relaxing, not beat heavy, but not ambient. Has quiet lyrics and occasional piano.
FYI: This song came on while driving with my family yesterday. It was a nice moment and helped me put some stuff in perspective. I'm a lucky fella.
Pop 101 - Marianas Trench
It's a decent pop song that deconstructs what's popular these days.
Currently, these are the songs I most listen to: Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb
Capital Cities - Kangaroo Court
Johny Massacre - Ultrasound
Savlonic - The Driver
Savlonic - Computer Guy
(seriously go check out Savlonic, their songs are awesome) Kyary Pamyu Pamyu - Ninja Re Bang Bang (J-Pop)
Started a Spotify Playlist based on some of the submissions I found. Couldnt get to them all, but feel free to make any updates: https://open.spotify.com/user/1213258404/playlist/67NcrUNXOKVwKJ4XU5kgnm
I've been listening to the Chosen Families series from DJ CPI as background music at the office. She's a really interesting DJ who makes album and longer length curated mixes, and there isn't a whole lot of her work that I don't like. Directions to my Special Place Glittering, Waiting Always More Than This Oh Glorious Perversions Edit: I'm embarrassed by my inability to embed those mixcloud links, is that just for youtube/soundcloud?
After someone here linked to a Tiny Desks video from NPR I've been enjoying most of them, recently the one that caught my attention the most was Oddisee as it's not my usual type of music but I found I really like the message he is getting out with this album. I may buy it.
Man Man - On Oni Pond (Full Album) https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLRHKFNHqNaNCZydWByVYkRVbSItj7du6V (Hopefully that link works... seems Hubski is weird about YouTube Playlists) Considered "Experimental Rock", which is true enough on some songs, and others sound like Rock from other decades, like "Head-On":
All the World (I Tell Myself) - Correatown I think of it as Tonks' song, after the HP character; she us one of my favorites, and this song makes me think of her.
New Jamie XX is out. Called In Colour. Whole album is great. It's my summer jam.
I've just got into this guy, Jarrod Dickenson. Just beautiful.
I found The Oaths recently and have fallen in love.
