I'm been remodeling a viking camp into a math learning center. It's been a great project. Here's the banquet room, starting to come together. I'm ready to put up lighting in this room. There will be ceiling lights, lighted artwork, lighted scuplture, and back lighting around the edges of the ceiling. Lots of combinations for lots of uses, from classes to dinners to seminars to a pub, whatever.
I'm thinking about the lighting around the ceiling edges and looking for ideas.
I've put up trim which you can see in the pictures. It's 17 cm high and about 20 cm in front of the wall. I'm going to hang lights under this all the way around the top of the room. There is one 27 meter section and one 7 meter section.
I'm wondering if anyone here has fun ideas for what to do with the lighting.
One idead is ceiling led spotlights every 30 cm, so 100 total, wired to be controlled somehow, to make patterns or go into a "lava lamp mode" (or light up according to frequencies in music, or...?)
Does anyone have any ideas for a cost-effective way to do this?
Or any other ideas for what I could do with lighting up there? I'd like keep the price under $4000.
If you search on Amazon, there is lighting that's quite inexpensive, and might be part of what you're looking for. I'm a bit more on the Repo Genetic Opera, Cabaret side of things, though. Anyhow, things I've purchased and used for lighting in my living space, interior design wise, have included: 1) flexible coils of rope lights, in a variety of colors (great to use in showers, and the blue ones look great coiled at the base of a computer workstation setup) 2) lighting kits that... can't find the link, but one lighting type I purchased was a long string of lights, connected to a small box that, when you pressed a button, it'd cycle through different lighting animation patterns, different colors. Worked quite well for edges of rooms. 3) a string of lights encased in crystal shapes (great default lighting for a bathroom) and 4) this is one I haven't tried, but it was.... I think maybe strip lighting, basically, long strings of led lights that you could assemble into lighting of your choice, or some such. All of this was quite inexpensive, under $20 each. Also, the local stores are great for getting inexpensive xmas light sets after the holidays. I usually buy in bulk each year. When I have a job, that is.
I can't help with your questions. I would just like to know what a viking camp is.
This is the greatest thing I've heard this fiscal quarter. Is there a team working on this with you?I bought a viking-themed campground and I'm converting it to a math park.
Depending on how much light you need, LED strips are really fun. They come on a roll that's self adhesive with an LED every inch or so. The RGB LEDs have controllers that let you adjust the colour of the light on the fly. You can find them everywhere. Here's a link to my local supplier so you can see what I mean: http://www.leevalley.com/US/wood/page.aspx?p=70322&cat=1,43349
