I'm a recent immigrant from reddit and have been thinking a lot about the mechanics of Hubski, and I've come to realize that the main non-word mechanic of Hubski (follow users not tags, boopskis as a reshare, unmoderated tagging) are how Tumblr works. The main differences, as I see it, are threaded conversations and a focus on text instead of easily reblogged pictures and videos.
I vaguely like Tumblr and how I can curate my list in a combination of following the right users and Tumblr Savioring the right tags. I'm excited to see how Hubski works for me once I've accomplished the same here.
Yeah tumblr is great for when you want to just be entertained and laugh, hubski is great for discussions and it has a great format with comment threads and being able to click on posts to see the comments. Seems a bit like a reddit/tumblr hybrid, mechanically speaking. I also like that you can follow certain tags and they'll be of higher priority than others. You also don't need tumblr savior on here unless posts spoil something in the title! I'm just really enjoying my time here and exploring different tags is lots of fun.
Yeah, it's really great! I like both the layout and the mechanics so far. Very clever, very simple. One note: when one follows tags, are they the only things shown on the front page? Or are they just given precedence when ranking posts?
I've only been on here since yesterday (maybe two days ago?) so I can't give you a 100% positive answer, but I'm fairly certain that it's the latter and the followed tags are given a higher priority over other posts. I too really like the layout and mechanics!
