The Good:

Sister starts applying for Stanford et. al soon (I say et. al. because she's a shoe-in everywhere else). I am proud of her but also very anxious.

Her Latin teacher asked me to be a chaperone for her class' Rome trip, and since it's all-expenses paid, flight included, I can split the ticket-price for my sister with my mom. So, Rome next year? Mayhaps.

Also got our tickets for Passion Pit in may. Hype.

Also, have a dedicated site now: http://www.eightbitsamurai.co I'll be learning a lot over the next few weeks whilst I take care of the thing. Learning SEO stuff.

The New Girl. We played Smash for a good two hours and it was super. She spiked my Toon Link, and subsequently spiked her way into my heart.

The Meh:

Learning SEO stuff. Something about it just feels icky.

THIS WEATHER GODDAMMIT. I need new arch supports, which means my boots are killing me until I get some. Curse these flat-feet. And it's so dry, why is Colorado so dry.

Didn't get the internship I applied for. I'm not too worried about it, though. The job I have now is worth an internship and a half, and the stuff I do actually impacts the school as opposed to running around giving people coffee or whatever. But it woulda been a nice badge to add to the resume. I'll keep lookin.

The Bad:

The Roommate Saga

I think I've mentioned the intense hatred I happen to have for the apartment I currently live in and the roommates I currently live with but I don't think I've ever elaborated on it. I come from a very clean household, meaning...well, just take a look at some pictures:

"Washed dishes"

"This, is bananas, b-a-n-a-n-a-s"

"It's cool, I didn't need to use it anyways."

Beyond this, I've basically had to hoard all of my supplies under my bed after they ran out of toilet paper, and, rather than get more, decided to use my $20 kitchen paper instead. Simultaneously almost clogging the toilet. And this doesn't even include the part where they refuse to buy or clean anything.

In any case. I'm trying to get my own place soon. The exceeded price would be worth the mental soundness.

Edit: Forgot that I've been playing with rasterization and paint brush textures to create fancy portraits. Who's this sexy man I see in the computer screen?

You look so good that unfortunately I've concluded that the girl that asked you out supposedly because of your sick animation skillz probably didn't think you were such a good animator. She just wanted to hang out with your pretty face for a while. Sorry dude :(

Learning to live with shit-head roommates is a chore. I can really sympathize because I lived with nine other people for a year: two had never washed a dish in their lives, several had never cooked a meal before. Which is fine, you know, you can't judge. People come into this world with different resources and in different environments. The lesson I learned though is to not shy away from having the conversation where terms are defined with those with whom you share a living space, like I did for a few months. Take "clean dish". That would seem like a pretty uncontroversial subject, but you'd be really surprised at the level of ambiguity that's supposedly inherent to the idea of a clean dish. Anyways, norm-setting and assertion is key, and assertion is good communication skills. /unsolicited advice

I'll keep it in mind, haha. Thanks for the bump to "go solo" with my site.

Are your roommates trying to take advantage of you? Like you particularly? It almost sounds like that may be the case. You should bounce for a week, and see if they manage on their own or really do rely on you.

Oh yeah, as soon as I had taken all the stuff that I had brought for us to use in the apartment, they got butt-hurt. I've basically created a system where the area around me is clean, and the stuff that I use in the apartment is clean, but everything else can just decay to hell.

One of them, "Luke", in particular is rather cheap and subsequently manipulative. He and I pay the same price, while the third has his own room so he pays a little more than us. When I had taken all of the stuff that I had bought because I was sick of nobody doing their share, "Luke" decided to get Roommate 3 to buy supplies for him, even though Roommate 3 already pays more for rent.

There's more, but to sum it up, Luke is a bit of an asshole.

Roommate drama is the worst and most pointless drama on earth. You have pretty much three options:

1) get rid of the leeches

2) leave

3) sit back and take it

Having good roommates is a godsend, and can be insanely fun. I would encourage you to try and find some good ones, because living alone is the defacto for most of the rest of your life (barring, of course, partners/gfs/spouses/etc).

If you like Game of Thrones level drama, you can totally play them against each other and find more ideal roommates. Get the other roommate pissed at Luke and gang up to give him his 30 days, then get a new, clean, video-game loving roommate that you can use to ostracize the other one, or, at the very least, create a barrier so that the mess is contained within their room.

Don't play nice, the sanctity of home should not be violated, and everyone is always trying to get their cut of the pie.
