The most amazing place I've ever been was Cuba. Fidel has pretty well kept the country from industrializing and becoming commercially developed, and the result is that their beaches and jungles are pristine. There is truly nothing like skinny dipping in warm, clear ocean water without another soul in sight. Plus, they have great rum and cigars at cheap prices, if that's your thing. Although Cuba is on its way to becoming a tourist destination, its still easy to find quiet, untouched areas, especially if you keep away from the hotels. Plus, the US embargo keeps out most American tourists.

If you're American, nobody really cares if you go to Cuba, as long as you keep your head down when you're going back through customs. It's much easier than most people think.

It always sounds so beautiful and the people seem fascinating. Great food and music. Seems like the whole package to me.

It is an extraordinarily beautiful place, and the people are friendly, and the music is great. I will say the food leaves something to be desired. Communism has really restricted the availability of food. Pretty much every meal we ate consisted of grilled chicken, pork, beef, or sometimes fish, served with beans and rice and sweet potatoes. Nothing wrong with that, but it gets tiresome eating the same dish two or three times a day. Ironically, tourists eat much better than locals, who have even less access to food. This is intentional. The government wants to milk all the money from tourists that they can, the idea being that this money can be redistributed to Cubans. In practice, I doubt that strategy is very effective, thanks to corruption.

Too much of a good thing can actually get old. The only Cuban food I have had has been in Florida and at a small restaurant in Ann Arbor MI. So, I don't have any idea what it's like in Cuba. The cuban Frita's that I've had have been pretty delicious though.
