It is an extraordinarily beautiful place, and the people are friendly, and the music is great. I will say the food leaves something to be desired. Communism has really restricted the availability of food. Pretty much every meal we ate consisted of grilled chicken, pork, beef, or sometimes fish, served with beans and rice and sweet potatoes. Nothing wrong with that, but it gets tiresome eating the same dish two or three times a day.
Ironically, tourists eat much better than locals, who have even less access to food. This is intentional. The government wants to milk all the money from tourists that they can, the idea being that this money can be redistributed to Cubans. In practice, I doubt that strategy is very effective, thanks to corruption.

Too much of a good thing can actually get old. The only Cuban food I have had has been in Florida and at a small restaurant in Ann Arbor MI. So, I don't have any idea what it's like in Cuba. The cuban Frita's that I've had have been pretty delicious though.
