Video game media are small-internet oriented-operations, industry advertising is the only way most of these guys can keep their sites running. Could you get some conflicts of interest? Of course, but there are millions of reviewers out there it's your choice on who to support. There is no industry giant that has opinion influencing control over all the major video game media outlets.
